Hey Phill - how about an option to completely delete something we uploaded, instead of just archiving it? What I mean is, under 'edit', I would like to see the option to 'archive' OR 'delete' a submission. Deleting would permanently erase the submission, all comments and ratings associated with the submission but archiving would do what it does now, remove the ability to play the song but keep comments and such.

@syberchick70 - Now what is the reason for wanting to completely remove a submission? I can manually.

The reason that this is not an option is for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in the past we have submissions removed that have been previously indexed by the search engine (Bing, Google, and/or Yahoo) When the 'Spider or Bot' returns and the submission has been deleted it receives an error. This degrades the website ranking. Especially when this occurs frequently. The mp3 files themselves are not indexed - however the page and information is.

Therefore, we permit the deletion of a submission but not the content on the page.

I hope that helps explain it.

It explains it. It's just kind of awkward I guess, to me anyway, when I put up new versions of the same song or decide that I maybe just don't even want a submission on my page anymore (haven't run across that yet, but I could see it as a possibility). I think it would be odd to see several archived versions of the same song on a person's page, but then maybe not. I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out. I can understand your position regarding the ranking stuff.

I've been gone for a few months, came back to find out the 'delete' for people you don't want on your 'comment box'...will we get that option back anytime soon? I agree with just deleting 'comments' and 'songs'.

Thank you Sedy:-)

Love, DEExo
