Can we start a new, dedicated Read Me First - Techie Forum forum?
Here's my idea. There are so many repetitive questions about certain issues like:
How do I record with CEP
How do I rip a CDG
How do I...................blah blah blah and the list goes on and on.
Take note, there's nothing wrong with that, but I would like to see a dedicated kind of help file where members can post a little
Recording with CEP for Dummies or
Ripping CDG's for Dummies
There are so many questions that repeat themselves, and I think it would be great if any one has a cheat sheet that he/she is willing to share, to post it into a Read Me First - Techie Forum
Any one sharing my idea here?

Great idea... sort of like a FAQ extension...
We did that "elsewhere" and it worked really well

A dayum good post Allstar.. And Atomic, I think the idea of a FAQ is how it should be handled.
It's kinda what I was going on with my comment to BlueStainedShoes about her questions on doing karaoke on the laptop, hardware and software required, etc. Maybe, rather than going at this independantly, we can work on a cohesive and collective effort.
PM or email me if you want some ideas... I think it should start with the basic interface of karaoke on a computer, for home or pro use, and how to get the tracks on the computer... finally going to how you record yourself.
Maybe even stuff which is advice from KJS on how to deal with certain topics? Such as the "complainers and whiners" thread currently active, to "rotation", tactics, etc.
Good thread! REALLY good thread so far. Course I probably just ruined it! !

I had talked about putting up a page a while back when I was helping tigger with her problems recording. The FAQ on ripping CDG's with MP3G Toolz is already pretty good and would likely require little if any work other than pointing everyone to it's location. The help files for Audigy is pretty informative.
There is a lot of other information out there on mixing, handling rotations, disc recommendations, etc that should be collected and archived. A list of common terms and definitions would help a lot of people. Pointing out how certain terms are used in the over all scheme of sound reproduction would be a big help. In other words, instead of just telling them what reverb is, we would also tell them a little about wet/dry and aux send/return so they would know where it went in the signal chain instead of trying to hook them up through insert points, etc.
Even though most people will still ask the questions a well documented faq would resolve many of the issues - especially if we were allowed to link to it . Something with screenshots to make it even easier to understand would likely be asking too much, but it would be a start.
Now we just need a lot of free time to put it all together....

OH - I think I understand...
AllStar - now I understand your PM to me... I was a bit confused (normal status for me)
How about I place it in the Announcement section - below comments.
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions.
I can then move all posts from the archives and current forums that deal with these issues to that forum. ( I will need assistance determining which topics to move)
This should make it easier for those that need answers to find them.
Okay? Also, I need more feedback -
PHILL

How about sub-catagories in the tech forums ie
general questions not defined in it's own catagory
mixer (powered/non-powered) questions
amp questions
speaker questions
player questions
computer questions
processor (effects, eq's, etc.) questions
etc.....
Or would it be too complicated/conusing>?

Sounds like a winner...
Can we post links here? Not necessarily to advertising sites, but to tech pages, information people need? Etc. Etc. Etc. Ad Nauseum! !

This sounds like a great idea!
I would love to be of assistance, but it appears that there are many qualified experts here already!
This site is not only fun but informative. I would like to thank everyone for their contributions. I may not post often but I read the forums all the time. You people offer alot of terrific advise!
_______
I think the option to allow links is the best idea. I don't believe if used properly they would be advertising - but a good knowledge base for everyone to come to get the answers that they seek. If someone needs advise they would come here as opposed to another site.
Seasonal reference: Did you see Miracle on 34th Street? Santa, told the parents to go to another store to get what they wanted! Management at first was against it but then they realized that they were getting more business because of it!
That would work here as well!
This could become the "go to" place for real answers!
I hope management at KS sees that also!
Keep up the great work guys & gals!

hey - It looks like my advise was listened to!
I know it probably wasn't because of me, but hey let me have a little ego trip for a while
Cool all the way anyway!
