I've heard from Cantstopsinging that she can't access KS or SS just gets "internet explorer can not find the requested page".. it started for her on Saturday I guess.. She mentioned she's spoken with her ISP and they're scratching their heads.
She's also spoke with another West Coaster who happens to be on Verizon for their internet and he can't access the site either... They both are on Verizon so they're wondering if somehow Verizon has been blocked from here??
Anyways... Cantstopsinging says she's called the one and only phone # she had for this joint and got a voice mail box...
Can someone help her out please? thanks!

The list keeps getting longer: Morgan, Joyce, Kelley, Clay and now I've just heard from Danielle that she and Dee can't access the website either. Danielle is on Verizon too.

There must be a mystery blockage - these accounts are active and have not been blocked by our system or server.
I will see if I can figure it out by searching further but as of now I cannot determine why some people are experiencing this problem.

vicki is dealing with porn banners because she is accessing via an anonymous proxy server I guess most of their clients are into porn and dont want to be traced. I dont go to suspect sites and am very careful about having up to date security, it is unlikely I would have a virus, trojan or worm and even more unlikely that so many people from different parts of the world would be affected at exactly the same time

Here's a great example of irony!!! I went up to Microsoft.com and checked to see if there were any Windows XP security updates. On the Update page I got this message instead: "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem."

I fixed my problem NeoEarnie! I can get Windows updates again. No hard drive reformatting required in my case anyway. Here's what I did: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919749 It's all pretty much voodoo to me but it worked! LOL

It's not just Verizon. I couldn't access from several ISP nodes last night. America Online, and Yahoo were two in particular.

response:
Quote: Administration knows about the problem, and they HAVE been attending to it. The difficulty so-far appears to be that this is an elusive situation meaning NOBODY shows as blocked. This doesn't currently appear to be a Karaokescene software configuration problem. They ARE aware of the problem, and are working very hard on this currently non-perceptible situation.
They are also EXTREMELY busy !

OH BOY... that happened on the board I co-admin on... one person couldn't get on thru AOL but could thru IE.. we never did find a fix..
ok.. well.. weird stuff has been happening with PHPBB on its own it seems, based on my experiences with the board I co-admin..
One thing for people that can't access the site to check is..
You're not running any kind of parental software are you? We had that happen on our board, one person had their parental software set to "off" but.. it still blocked our site... only when they completely EXITED the software did it allow them back in..
AOL.. if I remember right they used to have some parental controls somewhere in its software didn't it? maybe that's why you can get on thru IE? I'm not sure..
Keep in mind that many antivirus softwares also now have parental software in them.. I've got mine disabled..

Understood, however this was not the case with my inability to access via America Online. There were no controls set ! No discernible blocks regarding censorship. Same with Yahoo areas that "timed out". No limited content access. BUT, assuming a site had some type of "Caller ID" feature, it would NOT detect me coming from these areas. That's the only difference I can currently think of. I'm not entering KS as "Kappy" from SBC (when I attempt to enter via these sites). Only difference I can think of regarding my access.
ADDED IN:
Only thing I DO notice is site popup content has noticeably been reduced. I wonder if THIS might have anything to do with it. Meaning certain sites are rejecting KS and not vice versa ???

My popup blocker was blocking numerous popups each time I signed into KS. This was most noticeable AROUND a week prior to the onset of all this recent stuff that appeared around Saturday ?? Memorial day weekend. Nothing noticeable since however. So I don't know if there is or is not relevance. This is tricky
In fact, HMMMM... See if this makes sense.. My America Online filter was fielding these first My SBCGlobal.net address wasn't the popup blocker that fielded these particular popups SO.... I think I still have them !!!!
Might this be a help ?
