thinking about piracy, i have yet to have anyone under the age of about 45 offer me a downloaded track, or mention anything about having a great drive at home. they mostly seem to be 50+ and mostly affluent. in the private country club i did for years i had so many rich retired people offering me their 200,000 track drives to copy. never from anyone younger. don't know what it means, just an observation.

The younger generation simply figured out a few things -
1) Keep your mouth shut about how much pirated stuff you have 2) No need to store a bunch of pirated stuff locally when it is freely available on demand on the web. 3) Why do I need to pirate karaoke when the host is already doing it?

I agree with 1,2 & 3.
It is however flawed. Blackbeard was 38 when he went bye bye. But a lot older in dog years so yes, your right.

My thinking is a bit different....
I think that the"younger" generation, say 30 and under, is very misinformed. I don't think they realize that what they are doing is piracy/copyright infringement.
I am not saying ALL of them, but a good chunk.
It is amazing to me how truly ignorant some of the young-ins are when it comes to the internet & technology. For instance....(btw I work for a cable company)
Been on several call for slow/no internet, and it is actual their computer that is slow. They complain it take 10 minutes for the computer to boot, and then another 5 for internet explore to start. Obviously that is slow internet.
Today was hooking up internet for a 20-something. Laptop took 15 minutes to boot. Then I could not get the wireless connection to work (it would connect to the gateway, but no internet), but it worked hard-wired. She was pissed because I couldn't make her internet wireless, although I showed her that it work hard wired, and on her roommates computer the wireless worked. She was convinced that it was a problem with the internet, and not her computer, then her roommate said it was probably because of the internet blackout today.
I assume this is because most of them grew up with computers/internet, but really do not know how it works. A prime example is my sister-in-law, who "breaks" a laptop at least once a wear, and goes through 2-3 cellphones a year. Instead of fixing them, she just buys new.

It's not the age it's the persons involvement in technology!

I get laptops to fix. A very common one is slow. 80% of the slow ones are easy. The Torrent program is set to auto start with windows. Torrent programs are notorious for being resource hogs. They all have torrent programs. Your right mate. They don't have a clue.

Yes and even though you tell them the problem they will reload the same programs!

Instead of fixing/reusing things, it is just thrown away and get new. If your over 40 (in general) you know about/used cloth diapers. Your toys were made of metal, and your kids play with them today. TV repair guys fixed TVs because it was cheaper than buying a new one. Pepsi/Coke came in glass bottles and were returned when empty. Food came on a plate, not in a box/wrapper that is thrown away. and so on..... 95% of the young-ins I see..... could not install new hardware in a computer. don't understand that anti-virus programs are not 100% protection (same thing for a condom ) believe that anything seen on the WWW is true/real. and so on....

Since it was hard wired, did they pay their bill?
