Well, as I see it, ALL of the in fighting SHOULD be OVER. No more "cheerleaders", no more "anti-cheerleaders. just a bunch of karaoke hosts trying to make it in this business, with a place to come to and discuss "karaoke". Even if we do talk about the "LEGAL" aspects of the business, there should be NO MORE DOUBT, as to who has done the RIGHT thing, and who hasn't. Now that we KNOW that practically EVERY manufacturer has "dirty hands", there shouldn't be ANY "cheerleaders", UNLESS you are PRO PIRACY. Then, cheerlead away, and that will let all of us know who the REAL pirates are on this forum. IF, after all you've been shown concerning the practices, and resulting suits, and possibly the ruination (is that a word) of karaoke, if you STILL refuse to see the TRUTH, either you're "brain damaged", "VERY gullible", or willing to "drink the kool-aid" no matter what. I SURE hope this will make THIS forum the place I personally USED to enjoy coming to, to discuss, and LEARN about this fine occupation..... HOPEFULLY

It's way from being over--alot of things are going to be shaken up before this is through. We have always known that all of the manufacturers have had suits. I have always felt in the middle of needing to be legal but not knowing what was legal to buy. But I have not felt the frustration justifies burying one's head in the sand and not wanting to deal with it all. I don't think calling concerned people brain dead and brainwashed is the path back to having the "happy forum." It is just more of the same.
The fact that there are unlicensed songs out there from all manufacturers is not news. The fact that publishers are now suing to have the offending discs removed from the market is (and by the way--those same publishers have also been sued many times themselves). Nothing is over. It is just beginning. If it helps to clean up the industry, more power to it. But I don't see "piracy" practiced by karaoke manufacturers as any justification for piracy practiced by hosts. It all still needs to be dealt with.

I didn't call "concerned people" brain dead, or brainwashed, I said if you STILL can't see that the manus were doing the same thing they're accusing other people of doing, THEN, you have to be either "brain dead", OR "brainwashed". AND if you still want to "cheerlead", have at it, I just can't see the justification. That would be just like cheering for the harddrive sellers. So, if you're "concerned", why would you STILL want to defend them? Guess it was wishful thinking on my part..... back to the regularly scheduled "programming"...... Guess a "happy forum" is too boring....

Again, I'll take it one step further.......there hasn't been any unique music created since the The Great Masters....there is only a finite number of ways, that 8 tones can be minipulated onto a staf, and The Masters covered it all. Every member( there's that word again) on here can think of several post-1950 songs, that sound almost exactly alike, as far as the music goes, but there are hundreds, maybe even thousands. Just because a bias(in my opinion) Australian Judge ruled against GH, doesn't mean the opposite to what I say. I've read, that GH actually felt bad, and wanted to pay some sort of restitution, so it was almost like a confession. Also to order a monetary judgement against him is like saying, that a person going to buy " A Sweet Talkin' Guy" will opt to buy "My Sweet Lord" as a substitute, or instead of, since they're so much alike.......it was a Bulls!t ruling...

Are you trying to say the whole industry is screwed up, JR? I could agree with that. And I don't think it is the topics that are at fault so much as how we discuss them.

I always did wonder about "The A-B-C Song" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (no need to thank me now because you can't get that tune out of your head).

Leopard, that's what I meant about "IT'S" finally over. "IT" being all of the IN fighting. Everyone was choosing up sides, either for or against the MANUFACTURERS. What about "cheerleading" for the HONEST karaoke host who resisted the temptation to buy a harddrive, and went out and bought what he THOUGHT was legitimate music only to find out that he (or she) had been taken. I didn't see anyone cheering for the person who stayed out of the IN, or OUT team. You were either WITH the Manu's, or you were AGAINST. Nobody cared about the person who was NEUTRAL. The whole forum got to be WAY too serious somewhere along the way. Just because someone didn't pick up sides doesn't mean that they didn't know what was going on, or "burying their head in the sand". Honestly, IMO, there's not a whole lot that the consumer can do, other than keep informed, and let it play out.

Athena, I agree, I don't think the "sky is falling" yet either. With the hundreds of thousands of karaoke discs that consumers have bought, I don't think there's any way that anyone can hold the consumer responsible, as the purchases were made in good faith. Not only from internet sites, but from B&M stores also. I believe as long as we have our discs, we'll be ok. JMO...

Glad I didn't pay for an audit. Certified by CB (if that is even possible now) but didn't have to pay. How will the fallout end up from the certifications?
I was unable to open the pdf, is there any manus that are safe?

Srnitynow, Glad to know we are on the same page on this issue.....I hope that more people realize that as end users the liability risk is VERY small. I don't care to see anyone getting stressed over this issue unnecessarily....we all have enough stress in our daily lives to worry over something like this IMHO.

Unlike some people, I don't have the luxury of being able to speculate publicly. I am in the process of gathering information, and when I have something to say, I will say it. For now, I will say that there have been a lot of statements on this board, made in response to the Warner suit, that have no basis in fact, particularly with respect to the GEM series.

Maybe when karaoke is illegalized we can have underground members-only karaoke clubs...and make some money again!!! Best way to make something popular is make it illegal.
