"Make your own karaoke audio - to be sold on various online sites" caught my attention. First I’d like to say I don’t have first-hand experience regarding this topic. I’ll just post what I think is just plain & simple common sense. What do I know? Take it or leave it:
You’ll find a lot of samples regarding music recording contracts. Here’s one:
http://www.musiccontracts101.com/docs/sample/I wouldn’t use that contract if I were you. The best course of action is to hire the services of an entertainment lawyer. This industry is huge & has its share of crooks ready to take advantage of you being new in this game. Seasoned posters from KS can attests to that fact.
Lots of things to consider, i.e. copyright, licenses, permission from composers and/or lyricist, unless it’s your original work, but you want that protected too, the use of graphics for your cd & your jewel cases etc.
If you enter into a contract with someone else, it’s always a good idea to have a lawyer review your document. That way, if something goes wrong or if there are discrepancies in the delivery you deemed wasn’t right, you’ll be able to insist on how you want it completed. I hope you can bring this project to fruition & wish you the best of luck in your endeavor
