I have probably spent 16 to 18k on my first 1000 discs, and probably 12 to 15k on my next 4500 discs (bulk buys), and I doubt that I have yet to make 100k for all the years combined that I have been doing shows. It has always been more of a hobby, and it has given me lots of great times in return. Has it been worth the time and expense..............you bet! Ask Brian A

1) These figures don't include speakers, mics, players, laptops, cables, racks, stands, software, processors, mixers, video adapters, switches, USB drives, lights, rugs/mats, carts, bins, printers, punches, binders, staplers, battery chargers etc.
2) Then there are the expendables: ink, paper, pencils, batteries, song books, etc.
3) And lastly your car , tires, maintenance, and GAS.
4) Don't forget the "Blanket Insurance Policy" which is pretty neccessary in today's litigious world.

After that it's ALL PROFIT

The bottom line is........you better love it! I live in Florida and I get sunshine with every check I receive.

Keep in mind you will buy most of your equipment more than once before you are happy with your rig.

Oh YEA! I love doing gigs. I started with a JVC home stereo system. Now I have a 4800 watt set up of all Yamaha. I even used it for the bands that I have been managing over the years. Discs? oh man, tons of money in 'em. LOVE IT!

Being a poor businessman, I never keep track (Pun intended) of my purchases.

But I will share with you that every time Ace Karaoke had a "Sale" I was there buying all I could carry.

Most were $1.00 per disk. (Or disc if you prefer)

At that price, who cares how much you spend?

No, I've never made $100,000.00 per year on Karaoke..
I was too busy making $200,000.00 at my day job.

I've not done a regular show in a while due to increased work at my college.

I will do a special upon occasion,
(The Last one was a thank you for a returning Vet from Iraq)

And the wife still works..

So, JD, at a Dollar a disc and with the number of discs you have historically said you own, your lifetime expenditure has been $6.00. That plus the wife working is a pretty good deal. :)
