I just go to my basement. Or to any of the 12 venues we run at. I am not blocked for KaraokeDownloads.ca (which is Tricerasoft).
Perhaps it is because I am in WA state which basically is Canada.....

I find that very hard to believe. chrisavis wrote: Perhaps it is because I am in WA state which basically is Canada..... . I was just back home for the holidays and agree. And hey! Tricerasoft is blocked for me. This hasn't happened before today. Anything we should know? I still have unused credits. Thanks.

Many KJs across the country are reporting down, but some are up. The few Californians I've spoken to can't access it. Hopefully this is a DNS issues. I still have credits on the site.

Just tried to log on to karaokedownloads.ca and it says my territory is blocked. I live in Tennessee. I too have credits there that I purchased last night. It's crazy.

Well if it turns out to be deliberate for some weird reason *altho if it was you think the whole US would be blocked* i guess those with credits will just have to either sell them or get a kj to claim songs for them..

Working in KY A couple of people have posted VPN\Anonymity solutions on here. VPN You can appear to be connected from a different location http://www.vpngate.net/en/Anonymity The end site cannot tell where you are from. Some of those will probably block anonymity as well but it is worth a shot. https://www.torproject.org/

A couple minor "hiccups" noted today going to the SelectKaraoke version of their site. The url has changed (the tricerasoft element becoming karaokedownloads.ca), and it made me log in for the first time since I don't know when. Also, it required my account number before it would recognize me, whereas it used to accept my name for user id. And lastly, none of the previews are working, neither music nor video.
Haven't tried buying anything yet -- used my last credit about a week ago. I usually buy one of the larger credit packages, but think it may be prudent to buy smaller packs at a time for awhile, just in case.

DMX Karaoke wrote: Hi Fellas, I was looking at the Kjams forum and saw a post about the No-Fly list and mentioned the same response I got from Universal regarding the legality of Tricerasoft in the US that I posted here. As I said earlier, my goal was to have legal access to the US market under the cover of proper US licensing. Since Kjams uses Tricera as a song shop for their player, I would have the benefit of my tracks being available to their customers as well. The moderator responded and promptly locked the thread. Quote: What I have heard is that it's fine (ie: perfectly legal and fully licensed) to buy TriceraSoft tracks even if you live in the US.
I am not sure if the moderator of their forum really knows what he is talking about and whether he can speak for the company. I suppose either they know something that the rest of us don't or they are willing to do business with a target on their backs. I have had discussions with Tricera, in which they must have been pulling their hair out trying to get me to "un-swallow" the propaganda that Digitrax, & Videos of Sound Choice's CEO has sold me - basically marketing the fear that all others are allegedly bad, and that they are the only good. They publish a no-fly list that has artists they've had or even currently offer - when asked how that works, the first response: it's only if they were the writer, when the research revealed that some of the titles were written by those artist the answer.... is no response. The video from the '13 summit, where the threat of sending publishers after the evil KJ, who resorts to using defunct companies like MM (Music Maestro), some of whose titles are... being rented to me... I have also had many discussions with Zoom, SBI & Karaoke Version, all of whom have very clearly stated that royalties for manu & sales are legitimately being paid. The real problem seems to be, that in the US, anyone can arbitrarily proclaim themselves as a moral (and financial) beacon (1914-ASCAP, having no legislation behind them, wins it's first case, uses that to build over a century of legal precedence) or (2013, throwing together legal terms ("vicarious infringement liability" too bad we can't throw together a few words, everytime we need a cool 1.5 mil, eh?) & twisting a Trademark law to disprove that a venue can't be sued for a 3rd party's actions (which have been made legal by both DMA '98 & fair use) & nearly destroying & slandering nearly everyone in it by accusing publicly that it's 95% corrupt, & then 3 months later 1 of them sued completely out of business, one involved in litigation, because a major publisher threatens to sue, before their contract was up, and the 3rd sued for slander & libel AND sued for licensing issues by another publisher... Gr8 ethical beacon...). Every other developed country IN THE WORLD has a Music rights department and oddly enough, much less litigation, name-calling & smearing campaigns ... Maybe we should ALL write our Congressmen?? I've even considered relocation, but I'm broke as a joke!

DMX Karaoke wrote: i think part of the confusion here is that in the US, if a manu wants to make a new song there are very big differences:
In USA
1. Have a license agreement in place with publisher 2. Create song 3. Research writers/publishers 4. Submit an approval request 5. *Sell song and pay respective publisher(s)
*The manu has to submit to the publishers how he will distribute the content. That also has to be approved! The publisher will be paid on the sales according the the deal reached.
In UK
1. Create song 2. Sell song and report and pay to PRS (if selling direct like SF or SBI on their own sites) 3. Offer song to others to sell, get a percentage for use and let them report to PRS (Mr Entertainer lets Selectatrack sell it's songs) and the seller has to have a license with PRS and has to report and pay fees. The key is: in your UK model, PRS is paid a % royalty for the sale, which in turn goes to the publishers, whether the buyer is in the US or the moon, doesn't matter, the sale was done in the UK, & the rights holders see a percentage from that region. Example - in our global economy, you're saying a KJ like you or me has been building their library for over a decade, in Europe, they decide to relocate to the US - You're implying then, that their entire library is garbage, because of where they bought it?? Oops, time to start from scratch... yeah, nope...
