All disc's are 'leased' according to what most of them say on the label: "All Rights Reserved, Used By Permission" "Music May be licensed for recording". Recording is the same as ripping to hard drive which they 'reserve' the right to grant. So, when we buy them, we agree to those terms. I wish a hard drive full of cdg were less expensive too... but then I also understand that making a cdg isn't cheap. Maybe they could make another 'foundation' and put it on hard drive. Thing is, people are buying hard drives full ... I've seen some that say 150,000 songs. Yes, a lot are duplicates but then they have every brand including SC on them... and they're being sold for just a couple hundred dollars. That is what SC is all up in arms about.. and me too. IF one cdg song were $1, then those hard drives should cost $150,000. I have 17,000+ with no manu duplicates.. that's well over $34,000 since cdg is usually $2 or more per song. I do get upset over illegal KJ's. But that's because my area is small.. where there were, not too long ago, just 3-4 of us here.. now there are at least 7-8 and two of those I know are illegal. They are charging so much less than I can charge... and it's not fair business practice. The playing field is not level. I run a great show and have a great following... but the almighty buck is speaking pretty loudly here. My main gig has told me they will never use anyone else .. and I know they won't.. we've been there for 21 years (only once a week tho). But, I need more than 3 gigs per week. I've got one that is only paying $100 per night.. and is 30 miles away.. after gas and wages.. nothing left. We just can't do business like that. I agree with the Tool analysis to a degree... problem is we never really own the music. We own the cd and the right to use the cd as is. We're not allowed to change it .. as in rip to hard drive. I think the people that are all upset over a couple of mistaken suits are being a bit touchy. Gosh, with all the songs I play every year.. wonder what the percentage of mistakes I make would be... nobody's perfect. So, if you are using a computer.. just don't put the sc on there, carry those few disc's. And if by chance you got named... all ya gotta do is show them the discs and show them that those disc's aren't on your drive. It's not that big of deal, I wouldn't think. But then, if you don't care to use SC.. so be it there too. My folks here would have a fit if I didn't have 'their' soundchoice song! But then, I personally HAVE to use SC for Heartache Tonight!!! Like Harrington said, if you are disc based you don't have anything to worry about. Regardless of the few mistaken suits filed and dropped. What about Chartbuster.. you're not going to use them either? I know starting out would be difficult. I don't think there's any way around the expense if you're going to do it right. If I were you, I'd stay disc based until you're up and running and making money. I am also looking into Tricerasoft for music. I just e-mailed them tonight to find out the legalities here, since their site says their music can be used by KJs. Yes, I was thinking about using CB. I like the idea of the drive unit instead of disks. But until I can afford that I will be using disks. Just not SC. I'm not stupid, I know Harrington will be gunning for me, so I won't give him anything to make any mistakes about. He already told me I was on his radar. So, I want no part of SC. The people around here don't care what company they sing from, just as long as they sing. As I mentioned before, I think it's an expense thing. There is very little SC at any show around here. I noticed that as soon as I moved here. So, for me, it doesn't matter what brands I use.

And what is wrong with Creed and Nickelback?? I wanted to ask that earlier, but I forgot. Here's pictures of them. Any questions?? The Numbers B19 B20 and B38 are my own catalog numbers. B stands for Bobby, which, as it happens, is my NAME! Like I said, ANY QUESTIONS??

Smooth, You reminded me of a day when karaoke was just that.. a chance to sing. Way back... oh, last century... We all thought it was just too cool to be able to sing with music.. no other vocals, just us... oh and how a lot of ppl found out how bad they really were!! That's where alcohol came in.. Thus, the first karaoke bar was invented. There wasn't much choice on brands of karaoke.. we just sang to anything.. like dogs at the moon most of the time! (alcohol again responsible for this) The days were simpler then... back in the day... I walked both ways uphill in the snow, five miles.. to school. My, how times have changed... and usually with some growing pains along the way. This another of those 'times'.. enjoy!

You go to karaoke here and it's just like those days. I think that's why people don't care about brands here. They just get drunk and have a good time. I remember all the Karaoke Divas up in NY. Here we don't have half as many.

Bobby,
I don't take well to being called a Nazi.
I'm taking that personally.
Please do let us know when/if you get that first gig.
I now have a stake in seeing you fail.

Well the Gem series KW offers seems like a referral service. Looks like 15.00 is what you pay them, no telling what they get from SC. So I don't think KW ever touches the product...I could be wrong.

I'm in for the question, asked several times, that was NEVER answered:
Will SC buy back my discs, at the original price, as SC is not willing to indemnify me from being sued for using my SC purchased Discs in the manner as intended as per a reasonably understood use by this Consumer.
I have over 1000 SC discs.
Is there any Class, in progress, to force SC to buy back the Discs that I could add my name to?

I now have a stake in seeing you fail. I really don't care what you think of me or my business. You have been nothing but nasty to me the whole time I have been back on the site. Having a "stake" in seeing me fail sounds like a threat. I don't think you are allowed to do that on this site. And how do you propose you are going to get me to fail?? I say that you should get over yourself, as you seem to be getting nasty just to get nasty. But hey, have your fun, threatening fellow KJs turns you on, have at it. BTW, you are in Colorado, I am in Florida. I have nothing to do with your business, you have nothing to do with mine. Like I said, get off my back, Mine Furor!!

I don't care if it was 2 times or 100 times. It's happened before. You saw what Harrington said, you have to make it easy for the inspector to see what you are doing, or put up signs. That is SC getting up in our business, and it's not right. If you have a rack system or are in a separate booth, which I know of one show host that does have an actual both that was built for her, they could automatically be named because the inspector had no view. I din't know we were in the business of of accommodating investigators. That's why I won't use the product.

I didn't threaten you. You did however, call me names. Juvenile and naive. Yes, I want to see you fail. I believe you are exactly what is wrong with this industry today. I'm not worried. People like you tend to screw up and make a big pile of failure for themselves with out my help. Let me know if you need that extra push. And for the record, I wasn't nasty to you when you asked about storing your tracks on an external drive. You just keep spewing your drivel and lies. Anyone who wants to can look up EVERY post you've made since signing on to this forum in 2004. The truth is there and it ain't pretty. Do let us know when/if you get that gig. Can't you get your "buddy" to come on here and respond? I'm sure he'd be okay with your description of him and his hosting skills. He'd love it that you've tried to make yourself look better and aired his dirty laundry and criticized him to a community of professionals, wouldn't he? He would be okay that you implicated him in your illegal disc copy/sharing scheme, right? ... "they could automatically be named" <----- oops, your ignorance is showing again...

I believe you are exactly what is wrong with this industry today. I'm what's wrong with the industry because I won't submit to a karaoke company's audits and extra charges? I am what's wrong because I do not want to use a company's product when that company sees their customers as potential criminals?? I have stated that I changed my mind about using pirated stuff. I am going to start REALLY small, with the SGB 66 pack, because of this, but I will build my collection up pretty quick, especially after I get the CB system. MtnKaraoke wrote: I'm not worried. You just keep spewing your drivel and lies. And I may have thanked you for the info, but you have been treating me like crap since then, just for having an opinion that differs from yours. Lies and drivel??? I have not posted any lies. If you think I am lying about SC's activities, you are wrong. Flat our wrong. Harrington had ADMITTED that there have been mistakes. Well guess what, in the legal world there can't be mistakes because people suffer for that. It's just like sentencing a person to death, then finding out later that they were innocent. "OPPS we killed the wrong man". MtnKaraoke wrote: Anyone who wants to can look up EVERY post you've made since signing on to this forum in 2004.

... "they could automatically be named" <----- oops, your ignorance is showing again... As for my friend, he knows what he does, and he only does his show for few extra dollars. It's not like he is a serious KJ, or wants to be. He has no use for forums. All I was saying is that I tend to run a better show than him, as I have been told this by others. I wasn't bragging, I was stating what I have been told. As for how much of a friend I am to him, I have already told him that I will not look for a place near him because I don't want to take any of his people away from him. But I don't need to justify myself to you. As for schemes, at the time we didn't know what was going on, so we didn't think there was anything wrong in sharing the library. I have since deleted all that music, which I am going to re-rip when I buy the SGW 66, cause that is what he gave me. I called you the Karaoke Gestapo because that's exactly how you and Timberlea were acting. Don't get on here like you are all perfect and have never done anything wrong in your lives, and acting like you are better than anyone else. I call 'em like I see 'em. If I hurt your poor delicate feelings I apologize. As for Being a Nazi, don't be so thin skinned. I have been called The Homework Nazi for years, because I am tough on my kids when it comes to their homework. I don't cry over it.

Meanwhile to chrisavis, I am still waiting for comment or questions about my Creed and Nickelback discs. Just wondering why you took notice of the fact that I have some out of print material. If you need to know, I bought them from Karaoke.com, back in 2005. So, like I said, ANY QUESTIONS??
