I think the key words are "after 2007." The Stingray purchase was completed in May 2007, but production continued through that year.

I sit corrected.... Like I said to LisaH- long night...

LisaH: I wasn't telling you how to run your company. What I was saying is that one is in an extremely competitive business, and says "I can't compete" - to others, and especially to oneself- one is admitting defeat. If one admits defeat, one has given up.

If you haven't given up ( and believe me, I think you are too strong a person to do so) then there are many methods to use as weapons of the competitive war. If one has all the weapons, then one CAN compete. If not, and one still wishes to compete, one would be required to accrue more weapons.

In other words, I wasn't knocking you Lisa, I was saying that I believe that YOU DO have the ability to compete- as long as you do not admit defeat. I know you will never do so.

You are correct Joe, I will never admit defeat. I am still the best KJ/DJ in this town. I have the best library, the best equipment and the best reputation. But what I was saying when I said I can't compete.... wasn't I can't compete in this field... I can't compete price-wise. If a venue is set on going to the bottom dollar, that cuts me out because I can't charge only $100. That very thing is happening here.. the venues don't want to pay and they are running to the $50 plus beer or $100 KJ's. Yes, they will realize that they are getting what they paid for .. but most bar owners don't know squat about karaoke and lump us all into the same basket. Walmart syndrome... same product/cheaper price. Which, as KJ's, we know isn't true.. .but the venues don't. The almighty dollar is speaking volumes in this economy.
And don't you dare lecture me on how to run a business! It would take too much typing for me to prove to you that I know how... and there's not a good reason for me to have to prove it to anybody except the people I deal with during the running of my business.

Exactly what is happening here as well. And when those bar owners see that the $100 or less KJ isn't doing a good job, they either drop karaoke stating it doesn't work (not knowing or experience that a 'good' company can work) or they just keep hiring different cheap hosts every few weeks until they find one that does work ok. I lost 3 jobs because of that. We had a bar up to $3000 between 2 nights up from $500 between those two nights. When the ownership of the bar changed, they went with a host (pure burnt library) that charged $75. Didn't have a good selection, didn't hook into any of the bar monitors, no floor monitors, set up on stage taking most of it leaving little room for the singer and because he was a singer of a national act (MEtal Church) he thought he'd have a huge following, they went from $3000 to $300 in less than 2 weeks, they finally called me back, but wouldn't you know, didn't want to pay my increased rate! They are now out of business. Similar story for the other 2 clubs. I finally got out of mobile karaoke altogether.
