you probably won't get in trouble if:

your venue is paying their ascap/bmi/sesac fee's, this covers the music being played.
each company represents different artist.

as for your homemade graphic's being displayed no one is going to come and get you. as the only thing people are being sued for is trademark infringement, like if you created a karaoke graphics and used sound choice's logo in it. they your breaking the law by using their logo without permission.

i've been using custom trackes i've done for years. and i gave them to others to use for free and never sold them for a profit.
adult summer nights (summer nights parody)
i did you bab (i got you babe)
stick me with your big c@#K (hit me with your best shot)
cat's in the kettle (cat in the cradle)
and several others.

if you do make them, just make sure your bar's are paying their liscensing fee's ( that's their responsibiltiy not your, that's even stated in their terms).

Why would anyone go through the trouble of CREATING their own karaoke graphics, and then attach any manufacturer's logo to it?

The trademark infringement that people are being sued for, is just for the fact that they copied a manufacturer's disc (without said manufacturer's permission) onto their hard drive and then played that copy in a public setting (regardless of whether that person made any lyrical corrections/changes to the graphics).

You hope. As far as we know, no KJ has gotten into trouble for doing this. I happen to have the same songs in my personal collection, but I have never added them to my library for others to pick and sing at my shows (whenever I host one).

I believe that in order to create a parody of a song (which the above listed songs are), the artist/s doing this needs to have the permission/s from the original artist/s and/or producer/s of the music for that song. Otherwise, they can be sued for the use of that music.

Now, granted, the below supplied links are NOT about a parody... BUT...

I've purchased a few licenses over the years from the Harry Fox Agency......the minimum, 500 copies, of which I have about 499 copies left on each..... :)
