purchasing Gem by choice in the next month

That is a real shame. Kurt doesn't deserve your money.

If all goes well i'll be buying mine around June. I have to compete with my show now - which is primarily SC, I cannot cut corners and buy crap for a core library - and not going to rely on internet connections to constantly download every song.

My entire core isn't crap. I do have the DK Millenium series, which replaces a lot of the SGB stuff. And I have NEVER had an internet problem, so far, so I am not worried about that. I will build my collection one customer at a time and do quite fine. The stuff that I am getting from Tricerasoft isn't crap, either.

$2.50 per song via Tricerasoft - with 1 credit pack. 6000 songs will eventually run you $13,500 buying them on an as needed basis.

I'd personally rather get a good quality core at $1.33 per track (when they have their sales) & know that that selection will match up with my current selection for the most part. I would also need to purchase the last 5 years of Pop Hits Monthly, and dup up on several Karaoke Version, All Star & Select A Track customs to have an 'almost' identical library both in size & the same quality that people really do come to find.

However, the point was made- and you have agreed-that there are so few GEM users here. If it's such a great deal - even without SC scaring anyone- why is that??

I know you did not ask this to me, but in answer to your question...

MAYBE it's because most of the people here (in this forum) are already established KJs, which would mean that they already have a core library built up. They either have a large number of SC discs within that core library, or they have a large enough core library that they don't need a ton of repeat songs (keeping in mind that the GEM series consists of 6000 songs) regardless of the quality (good, bad, or indifferent compared to SC's quality). Add on to that, these KJs may not be looking to build a 2nd or 3rd or 4th, etc... system, and as a result, they don't need the SC GEM series added into their library/ies.

Now, MAYBE you should direct your poll towards the few here (in this Forum) that may be starting out, or those who are building an extra system. In this case, KJAthena's plan to purchase the GEM series for a 3rd system would definitely count (because she has the GEM series already, and is a satisfied customer, regardless of how she became satisfied with it).

Cuey, I was about to say the same thing. And at least one of those long established host has stated for his second rig that he will get the GEM series as a part of that rig. It is geared more towards either a new host or an long time host who wants to expand.

Cueball and any others interested,

Just to clear up a few issues.

1.We do not have a GEM already this will be our first Gem purchase.

2.I am not KjAthena she is my better half she will be back on the forums when her health improves.

Still can't count it as accurate. People aren't necessarily chime in to answer a question for whatever reason. This board has a lot of 'active forum user' SC haters - of course the poll is going to skew that way.

I think that is a valid point. People who are satisfied typically do not look for a forum to speak about it.

I buy them in bulk, it's cheaper that way. Besides, I don't have an extra $4,500 laying around, and I don't want another monthly bill. My way is working fine for me.

since i buy them in bulk i get the credits for $1.40 per track, and on the expensive side they are $1.60 per track. $1.33 is not that big a savings especially when you consider that for every song I get for $1.33, I am also paying $1.33 for each other song that will never get played. for me, instead of plunking down $5000+, i can load a few hundred on Tricerasoft, Selectatrack and Karaoke Version to buy what is wanted on the spot and get the expensive discs for the for that one special song that is not available on download.
instead of the 600 songs that really get done on 200 discs at $15 each ($3000.00)
buy those 500 songs on download at $1.40 (700.00) and a handfull of discs for the not on download songs, those 50 discs at $15.00 a disc ($750.00) thats $1450.00 for the same songs that end up getting done.

Cue, please note the following from the OP, which I included for a reason:

....................
"I would like to know how many folks on this forum are GEM users that have never had any legal ( or other) problems with SC. No letters, no suits, no "settlements", no questions at all in regard to SC's "1:1" wishes. "

---------------

Athena doesn't meet that description. However, there's nothing to exclude newcomers that do.

Either way, it's a done deal. The actual point that I wanted to make ( which really wasn't a number poll) was made. Next thread....
