I have recently traveled to Miami and Knoxville and gone to shows there. I was able to see the effect of the suits.
One fellow in Miami was your classic pirate. Laptop, won't play disks, has every track ever made. "Don't worry -- I don't need to play disks, I have 80,000 songs!" And he would have just about everything I sang in my preferred version. Along with the classic loaded hard-drive errors I have noticed everywhere (track naming problems on LC01, certain songs with skips, etc.)
I went to one of his shows a couple of weeks ago. What was Chartbuster before is Music Maestro now. What was Sound Choice was THM. He had a number of songs for regulars where he wouldn't display the lyrics on the crowd monitor -- they sounded like Sound Choice to me. But that was one or two -- for the most part he was just like a CAVS pre-load; DK, MM, THM, Sunfly, and generic CAVS.
In Knoxville, I went to a popular karaoke bar and sang the other night. They had a good selection, and had some Sound Choice and a *lot* of Chartbuster. I talked with one of the regulars there, and he said "He has a pretty good selection, but he used to have *everything*. Then Chartbuster got involved."
I went to one show in Broward County that appeared to be piracy as usual, but they had changed out their long-time karaoke hosts and had a fresh KJ with a different loaded laptop.
Just thought I would provide some perspective -- I have no comment, just the report.

After the lawsuits here in knoxville, several of my competitors libraries seemed to have gotten much smaller. One guy went from 70K songs down to less than 15K, Imagine that! Hope your experience here in Knoxvegas was a good one. Mty two regular gigs are located just south of Knoxville in Maryville. You'd would have been very welcome at my shows. What venue did you visit in Knoxville?

What venue did you visit in Knoxville? Came in for one night on a Sunday. I posted here saying I would be through, but I am not sure anyone noticed. I went to the 7-day club on Kingston Pike. I liked it OK, sound was decent and people were friendly. I go through Knoxville twice a year, en route to or returning from my Florida place. On the way down we stay near Chattanooga, on the way up we usually go to Knoxville. I usually am there something like the first Thursday or Friday in January, and sometimes a random night in late May or early June.
