"Sound Choice and Chartbuster are planning on filing lawsuits jointly in the same cities and have targeted two major urban areas as our first “test” markets for joint filings."

cool to see, but i think one filing, following through, then the other coming right behind would be more effective as a deterrent moving forward. that said, good to see the big boys working together finally.

~ Karaoke Scene Magazine: October 2011, Page 17 Not surprised that this is deemed "test markets" because it appears that sales and settlements are the main focus and they are not called "enforcement zones." Wall: you have this quoted blindly to the magazine... who was the author?

All of these snippets scattered throughout the board are from the same article submitted by Kurt Slep.

Here is the snippet I didn't post, but is my favorite! "APS & Associates, investigated and contacted over 100 hosts in the LA area last year offering settlements prior to the filing of lawsuits. For those who did not respond and for other hosts and venues that have been investigated since then, we are being forced to file lawsuits against them. Lawsuits will be filed imminently if the first ones have not already been filed by the time this article is published."~ Karaoke Scene Magazine: October 2011, Page 13 & 17

One filing and following through and the other coming right behind would not work because the first one to get a judgement would become the first in line with a lien on the assets. This would discourage anyone else from wasting resources to secure a judgement to become second in line for assets that would no longer exist. Filing as joint privateers will allow them to share the booty of a judgement in their favor.

Alas, it also appears there will be yet another waiting period before anything gets done as they offer yet another last chance. Didn't the last last chance just expire last week? Kurt Slep via KaraokeSceneMagazine wrote: For those not already investigated or named in the first round of lawsuit filings, Sound Choice is prepared to generously offer the rest of the local hosts and venues one final opportunity to do the right thing and pay for their content prior to being named in an upcoming suit. Those who come forth voluntarily will be able to license the entire GEM Series of 6,000 songs for $4,000 (less than $0.67 per song) until November 18, 2011 (cash or credit card price). Financing may be available upon approved credit.

Let me fix this for you: Murray C wrote: Don't think he has time... he's too busy disseminating FACTUAL information from Pacer! And I see that you are right there, reading and commenting on it. Good for you. Of course, you apparently wouldn't bother to spend a dime of your own to learn what's really happening in your business.... it's easier to simply benefit from the labor of others... Glad I could help you.

But the price went up from $3k to $4k!
Also notice this has all been advertised around KS which is based in Southern California & Kurt has stated in the article that lawsuits in the L.A. area are about to be filed.

Thanks for the link. For some reason, when I tried it earlier, it just kept giving me a "subscribe" option.
