Ok, I get the whole 1:1 correspondence thing, but what I was wondering, does that have to be done on the internal drive of the laptop or whatever computer you are using, or can it be done using an external drive. I am just weighing my options, and it seems like if you use the CB drive, the songs you buy go where you put them, and not into the CB hard drive. It's just that I don't like storing media on internal HDDs in case something happens to one computer, I can use a different one, and not have to re-install all the files.

If you are referring to the KJ Media Pro drive then you can assign the location you want your files to be put wherever you choose. That includes the CB drive if you choose to although it is advisable to take a second external and copy the unlocked songs over to that drive just in case of a failure of the CB drive or you loose the unlocked songs permanently.

Yes, you can use an external drive. I do. I was audited based on that drive. I have attached my SC Gem series labels to that drive so that they are visible during my show as is required by the license agreement.

I also have copies of my certification on hand (in my computer bag) in case anyone should ever question my use of the computer.

I have to say though, that I'd find it highly unlikely that SC would investigate me as I already hold two licensing agreements and covenants with them. If they did, they'd find I am still in compliance with their policies and our agreement(s).

With my CB6000 I keep the original 320 GB hard drive untouched. I converted their MP3 to KMH files (Hoster) onto my external 2TB HD which I can use with my desktop or laptop. That keeps it a 1:1 ratio.
