Chip who did you speak with at Chartbuster? How did you search for the copyrights of SGB? If they bought the rights for their music does it have to show up right away?...Trust me I'll be on the phone Monday and find out if somebodys pulling my chain...

The owner's wife Debi Stovall.

She made up every excuse in the book why I couldn't find it including blaming it on the Gov't servers -- but would not under any circumstances -- provide a link and or a single verifiable image of a registration.

Don't waste your breath, you'll get nowhere and it's really not worth the energy.

Sure it's worth the energy Chip, I have two people telling me contradictory statements on an important aspect of our business...Also being the wife of the owner, just what is her postion in Chartbuster? Does she oversee this type of operation for the company? My wife is the Owner of our company and doesn't have a clue on half the stuff I'm doing...

I'd pay money to be on the line when you tell Debi Stovall she doesn't have a clue about her company ;)

Yeah, wives are generally clueless when it comes to business. We just let them think they have an important role.

Ok.. yer right.. clueless not dumb :) And ya, the wife of the owner is clueless about equipment, I think she's finally learned what an xlr cord looks like and she actually pulled out Mackie mixer I needed the other day (30 years in business)! But as far as the business goes we'd (owner and me) would be lost! She keeps us going where we need to go and keeps the bills paid, taxes etc etc.

I spoke with David Grimes today he assured me they bought the rights to SGB last year. He said they were filed and if their not showing electronically its the Gov. being slow... I told him there was a guy online that was ranting you didn't have it. He said, he's name wouldn't be Staley would it? He went on to say that if engraved golden tablets came down from heaven he still would think your lying to him. He also said that because of guys like him that always start arguments, they have chosen not to represent CB here, and that their time can better be spent elsewhere...So everyone say thank you Chip...

See? Interesting that Grimes said they "bought them last year" because Stovall said last year that they had bought them "a few years back."..... I wonder which one it is....

And it is like I said:
They will blame the government for having no record, but they will not produce even a photocopy of a single filing to substantiate anything they say....

You're simply supposed to believe them "because they said so."

If you feel better that way, then that's fine. I don't and that should be okay too.

Their failure to participate in these forums and communicate with their customers is their own choice, no one is preventing them from being here....

(perhaps if they post a few signs around the room, or maybe wave a registration over their heads while they announce they really did, then that might mitigate the paranoia they're having about posting here.)

Depending upon the manner in which the registration applications were filed, it might well be in excess of a year, maybe two before the Copyright Office had listings for these items. The USCO database is notoriously difficult to search as well.

Thank you Chip,
For for making it so very clear that those who are demanding accountabilty from everyone else are absolutely unwilling to be accountable themselves.

You're welcome.

Anything less than complete transparency is nothing more than a one-way mirror...

The simple point of all this is why on Earth would CB say they have the rights to SGB if they don't. It certainly isn't for any legal or economic reason. I, and probably most others, don't see a sane rational reason to say you own a copyright/Trademark when you don't.

But I'm sure someone will come up with some convoluted, paranoid reason for CB lying about their ownership of SGB.

Reading all this reminds me of why I hate to babysit. Petty arguments... whining and one-uping... it's irritating. But I'm learning to scroll through to find interesting posts, and then move on when there isn't one.

I find it interesting that you are so willing to accept whatever they say as the gospel truth when the reality is that they have been sued and judgments entered against them for millions of dollars (combined) for issues regarding the licensing of the karaoke products they sell.

They may well have purchased something from SGB, but but I don't see any reason why anyone should accept their word for it when they are so unwilling to show any documentation to substantiate that any transaction at all took place.

The entire reason for any argument here at all is a direct result of their refusal to be as transparent with their customers as they demand their customers to be with them.

But don't you know that CB and SC are the saviors of Karaoke?? Only them, and their customers matter in the karaoke world.
