Is DigitraxKaraoke ever going to be anything more than a "Coming Soon" web page?

Ok since I am officially released from my confidentiality agreement now. I can say a couple of things

I have recieved an email from Digitrax on the last update notice I recieved stating that they have MP3+G downloads now

They will have a pro service, but they never said anything about whether it will inlcude the downloads.

Honestly, I didn't see what the big hype was about. all it really seems like to me is a glitzed up version of the Karaoke Channel and certainly isn't anything ground breaking or something I haven't seen before.

That being said the interface was super easy to use, didn't give me headaches *i get wicked headaches if I use the computer too long* and was very straight forward to use. Everything was super fast. So the website is EXTREMELY well designed at least.

Now if Digitrax starts selling karaoke and tracks fro the KJMP drive again, then I will be more impressed with the whole thing..

Where's Athena? She swore up and down Latshaw "misquoted" when they announced the same thing. I don't know where she gets her information, but someone needs to revoke her press pass. I should have bet her money

If I'm wrong I WILL turn in my press pass Guess we'll all have to9 wait and see

Also over my 60 days from what I've seen jclaydon is correct looks like for home use only.

I tried to d/l 2 of their songs when I was beta testing as they were giving away a couple of d/l's but when I did I only got the music no video even tho it was in a zip file. I wrote to them telling them this but got no reply and they didn't offer to let me try again.

Digitrax = Karaoke Channel just another name!

OH YEA and then they want you to pay for a monthly subscription if I remember correctly.

How do you figure? Because their labeled for home use only? Please! Every music CD every made says it's for home use only. If every DJ followed everything they ever read on a CD, there would be no such thing as a DJ. As I just mentioned on another thread, the only difference in karaoke and the only thing not covered under ASCAP/BMI public performance licenses is the karaoke makers trademark logo, and again, the only company dumb enough to ever come after KJs for that is Sound Choice. Digitrax won't make that same mistake. If I'm wrong, I'll turn in my press pass.

wait and see..... Digitrax has already seen what happens when a manu doesnt aggressively protect their trademark. One things for sure somebody will be turning in their press pass
SC and PR are both going after KJ's for trademark....remember CB was split into PR and DT

Actually, they don't. They do state 'unauthorized' public performance. Clubs pay their PRO fees, it is no longer unauthorized.

Lonman is correct the pro fees do cover the PUBLISHERS fees for music. The pro fees do not cover the trademark/lyrics sweeps for karaoke at all.

CB had a d/l section for a long time before they went under but it was not for commercial use as stated so by CB. So I'm guessin that anyone that d/l any of their stuff and uses it at a show had better watch out for PR.

why would someone want to pay $1.49 a song for something they cannot legally use (plus the time to do all the downloads) ?

10. Limited License



Provided that you are eligible for use of the Service and that you have validly registered to use the Service, Stingray grants you a limited, non exclusive, revocable license to access and make personal use of the Service and of the Products available through the Service in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, including the Usage Rules. Any use of the Service or of the Products available through the Service other than as specifically authorized herein is strictly prohibited and shall terminate automatically the license granted herein.



11. Usage Rules



You acknowledge and agree to use the Service, including the Products available through the Service, in compliance with the applicable Usage Rules:



You agree to use the Service and the Products available through the Service for personal, non-commercial use only;

You agree not to register for an Account on behalf of someone else or of any group or entity;

You agree not to use, sell, rent, share, transfer, license or otherwise provide anybody with the Products;

Each Product that you purchase may be downloaded a maximum of 5 times, all formats combined, but you acknowledge that you cannot use a Product simultaneously in more than one location. The download links are maintained in your digital locker until you have reached your maximum download limit per link. Once the download limit has been reached, the link is deactivated;

Notwithstanding the foregoing, once you purchased a Product and you received the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy or damage the Product, and Stingray shall have no liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction or damage;

You agree not to use any data mining, robots, scraping or similar data gathering or extraction methods;

In the event that Stingray changes any part of the Service or discontinues the Service, which Stingray may do at its own discretion, you acknowledge that you may no longer be able to use the Service and the Products, or to use them to the same extent as prior to such change or discontinuation, and that Stingray shall have no liability to you in such case; and

You acknowledge and agree that you obtain absolutely no intellectual property rights in the Product that you download, including, without limitation, no synchronization rights whatsoever.

Stingray reserves the right to modify the Usage Rules at any time without notice.

Well Athena it's for those that want to sing Karaoke at home only or practice at home before hitting the clubs or wherever.

Why do I keep buying CD's and D/L music that I might listen to once a month or so.
If I started listening to every song that I have with out taking a break it would take me years to hear them all and I probably wouldn't remember the first song I listened to when I finally got the to end. Who knows why we do it we just do.

I can understand people wanting the songs for home use. I was actually responding to Karaokelan's post here and in another thread stating he was removing all SC tracks and replacing them with KC tracks...sorry if I was unclear

I guess that is the PC way of putting what actually happened...

Is the lyrics sweeps the problem or is it the trademark As anyone ever had an issue in the past with trademark/lyrics before SC started suing??? The real problem is the trademark but only when stored in a hard drive... don't you find this weird that when the logo is displayed using a cdg player and of course from the original cdg, there's suddenly no trademark problems I mean we are still viewing the same logo...

Are you saying that Digitrax will be using SC music? Because that's what KC is using... For home user or occasionally private corporate event, the Karaoke-Channel or Karaoke-Version format is perfect for me
