GeminiMALE40 wrote: select a track is back up and running ..thank god...... Yes.....BUT, as SELECTKARAOKE.COM, and with a whole different purchase structure! You have to actually buy CREDITS, which translate into lower prices per song the more credits you buy. You all can read the details, but here is something to chew on as a possible accommodation for the morphing international situation: Could it be that this new structure classifies it, say, as a "subscription" service now, since you are pre-purchasing "credit packages"? And if this is so, does it somehow legally fit under current regulations in this realm? |

It IS very interesting to compare the two sites...for those that can still get to Select-a-track.com(UK) without being redirected to SelectKaraoke. Some things are very different. For those that feel comfortable using overseas downloads and have no problems with Tricerasoft I would just have to say be very careful. |

as I do not know how to quote from another thread or link to one....I am copying and quoting Bradsingers response on the other SelectaTrack thread "Actually it is just a "skinned" skinned version of Tricerasoft's site: About SelectKaraoke: SelectKaraoke is a karaoke download website which supplies MP3+G® formatted karaoke from well-known karaoke manufacturers. SelectKaraoke is managed and run by TriceraSoft in partnership with Digitop Ltd, owners of the SelectKaraoke brand and a leading provider of karaoke software and content. Any purchase made on the SelectKaraoke website is a transaction made directly with Tricerasoft is are bound by Tricerasoft terms & conditions, click here for more info. Below are details on using the SelectKaraoke Account system. Why do we use Credits.... I guess with all the heat that Digitop/Selectatrack is getting they figured why not get some return on all the Google ads they ran in the US and set up a deal with Tricerasoft? It's a win/win for them both... Selectatrack is only referring customers they cultivated in a market they weren't supposed to be in... and Tricersaoft got a new affiliate to send them loads of traffic for a site they are already using.... A quick look at the content and number of songs by each manufacturer confirms my suspicions " Thank you this was very well stated |

It appears that the exact logistics of this scenario are still out...but I am figuring that the main concern for those here is whether or not their product is "safe for consumption"... |

The only clear-cut scenario I have EVER seen in these forums is that if an entity has clearance for production of any given track(s), and for distribution in the US, all is well. I have not seen any convincing evidence that there is any licensing from publishers concerning its USE after production (seems like a "third party" situation, which I don't believe the originating entity should be able to dictate, even in commercial use), other than the entities that exist for collecting performance fees on their behalf... |

The way I see it is that I am buying Karaoke songs from a Canadian supplier. We have free trade agreements with Canada. I believe it is called NAFTA. That means we can buy goods and services from anyone in North America. I would think that includes music. But I will do as Chris Avis suggested, I will use their music until an AUTHORITY tells me I can't. Sorry Athena, as much as I like you, and as much as I respect you, YOU are not a person in Authority. You are just a KJ, like the rest of us. |

Yes, Smoothedge I am just a KJ...one that looks deeper into licencing issues than most. Remember I am OC... As I have not yet found a written copy of the licencing from Canada, The only information I can base my decisions on is directly from the publishers. I will state again...it is upto each KJ to decide what level of liability they wish to accept, because they pay for their choices. I personally will not use downloads from ANY company other than DT (I buy my ASK on custom disc) based upon my communications with publishers. Owning your discs does offer an extra layer of protection and I will continue to buy everything I can on disc. Mickyj57....SelectKaraoke is just re-branded Tricerasoft.....Select-a-track (The UK company) is different. US customers are being redirected to selectkaraoke but the UK customers can still use the Select-a-track site that has more tracks, different TOS ect. I have compared screenshots taken from both less than 1 hour ago. |
