The website of Argentina's equivalent of the Recording Industry Association of America was hacked Tuesday and transformed into a Pirate Bay proxy, serving up torrents instead of industry lobbying affairs. Nobody immediately claimed responsibility for the intrusion of the Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms Producers' site, which went offline early Tuesday. TorrentFreak noted that the site was transformed into a Pirate Bay proxy for about 10 hours following the organization winning injunctions demanding that 11 ISPs block 256 IP addresses and 12 domains of the Pirate Bay. The Pirate Bay, which serves up free video games, software, movies, and music, has been under attack globally from the content industry. The Argentine legal action makes it the first time a Latin American country blocked the Pirate Bay. |

Attacking the Pirate Bay is a futile waste of money. They are but one of thousands of search engines for Torrents and not even the best one any longer. More importantly though, they don't actually host the files in question that are being shared. Everyday people do that all on their own. Rumor is Pirate Bay and other tracking sites are working on ways to peer share the search functionality as well. Once they figure that out, every Torrent user will also become a search engine. |

It seems that even people who job it is to know this have a fundamental misunderstanding of Torrents and how they operate. |
