Some of the new digital mixers can record singers. Is it legal to record a karaoke singer and put it on a disc. thanks |

Most of the modern disc players can do this as well. No, not really legal for use in public venues. Back in the day I used to make cassettes of customer performances, but learned that this was ill advised. You would be making unlicensed copies of backing tracks for use in a new recording. In today's ultra-litigous atmosphere this would be something to avoid. |

Just another ridiculous thing to pile on top of KJs. Some people like to keep those recordings for their families, or for their own memories. Hell, I had a few of myself on cassette, years ago. These BS lawsuits are taking all the fun out of Karaoke, little by little. |

This particular situation was addressed long before any of these lawsuits were ever heard of (over 10 years ago), and many KJs stopped performing that service when they heard about it being illegal.
