So clearly SC was for media shifting before they were against it! lol

The all in one machine in the promotional video is directed at the non-commercial market.

The problem with media-shifting isn't media-shifting per se, but the commercial context of it.

There is nothing in this video that excludes commercial use. As a matter of fact, it specifically says; "Digitize your music and take it anywhere."

By the way... The video mentions "Churches, daycare centers and nursing homes."
Nursing homes may traditionally be relatively low-pay simply because of the nature of the job, but they are still almost always commercial.

Plus, there is no legal disclaimer included in the video.

The reference in the video is to nursing homes that buy karaoke machines for their residents to use (a non-commercial use), not KJs who play nursing homes. If you can manage to cut through your seething hatred for SC, you might notice that we've never sued a church, daycare center, or nursing home for infringement.

While this equipment is high quality for home use, it is not designed for use by professional KJs.

There is also nothing in this video that mentions media-shifting tracks from your SC discs and using them, for example, to run so much equipment simultaneously that you need a zoning variance for the truck you use to haul it around, either, so I guess maybe it wasn't meant to cover all situations.

The retailer doesn't seem to get the distinction...
"This versatile machine does it all! It’s an amplifier, portable address system, karaoke machine, DVD/CD player and MP3 Player all rolled into one affordable compact package. It’s perfect for Singers, Musicians, Teachers, Schools, Churches, Public Speakers and Karaoke Jockeys, whether practicing, rehearsing, performing or playing. "

I guess you should take it up with him.

Here's the bottom line: Making equipment that is capable of conducting media-shifting of various types does not imply blanket permission for media-shifting SC tracks even for people who buy this equipment, much less for people who didn't buy this equipment. Besides, this equipment is capable of many uses that aren't infringing in the slightest.

With all due respect I'm surprised you wouldn't want to take up the matter with him more than me. Agfter all the implications of the suitability of this product for pro karaoke use are being made about your product.

here, you can do this with it, (but if you do you will be in trouble), but you can do it. like a radar detector, it's fine to buy it, just don't use it.

Is that anything like insisting on making the sale of guns illegal? After all, "Guns don't kill people..." (feel free to finish the quote... you all know it).

Sound Choice Karaoke Machine - Perfect for Singer…: http://youtu.be/Kn6MBq81i50

Two interesting things

1) Poster of video's name = soundchoicekaraoke

2) Blurb mentions "Perfect for... KJs..."

Could be unauthorized...

The interest probably has more to do with the attitude of Sound Choice towards KJs who are legal disc owners engaging in media shifting than interest in the product per se.
