For those smart enough to realize that- if one absolutely is convinced that That SC product runs their show, rather themselves- that playing the discs on a player rather than adding more support to an industry bottom feeder is the best way to go: FREE disc resurfacing if required for them to work in your player. If you promise to use your discs in a player, please send a resurfacing request to josephchartreuse@peoplepc.com and I will send details. HOWEVER, a signed promise to use said discs IN A CDG PLAYER rather than for ripping will be required. This is because I believe that anyone who SUPPORTS a company who's ONLY purpose is to FEED - without any contribution- off of our industry is just as bad as that company. NOTE: Edited because I believe my original post contained over-aggressive and un-called for wording. My apologies to the forum in general for letting my frustration with this situation get the best of me. -J.C. |

I would suggest that instead of sending their discs to Joe, one could buy their own resurfacing unit and do it themselves. Without some sort of written and signed agreement, I am not sending my discs anywhere for anything. I would want absolute assurance they came back is as good or better condition. |

Welcome back, Insane. Thanks for your invaluable input to the forum! I mean that. You have reminded me that posting has become too aggressive. I will edit the OP. Chris, I don't blame you- it's not a trusting world out there. I have no desire to "sell" or push a free service. I am only offering to lend a hand to anyone who wishes to play their discs rather than financially support a company that does not contribute ANYTHING to our industry. If they would rather get it done elsewhere by someone nearby that they know and trust, GOOD! I'd probably do the same thing. Less work for me. I don't NEED to do this (it's a freebie) and don't even particularly want more work- but if it saves some colleagues from blowing profits I am here to help. I have 2 definite acceptances, and am awaiting a third. If no one else accepts, at least I know that I tried.... I would also request no more than 5 discs at any time as I have to run my business as well- not exactly loaded with free time... |

nowwaitaminute....... You made an offer and now you are putting restrictions on it? I screenshotted the original offer and it has already changed? Can you do that? When will it change again? Under what circumstances? 5 discs at a time? 20,000 / 5 = 4000 sessions..... I could keep you very busy of I took you up on this. Please understand the tongue in cheek effort here...... |

Thanks for your offer Joe. I've only had to replace 2 SC discs and took advantage of the $5 deal to do that back a few years ago. Playing from the computer has kept the bulk of the collection relatively pristine. Now it appears I'll be retiring the SC library for non-commercial use. Wife won't let me sell it. |

Or you can just buy your own resurfacer & do it yourself. Use a few discs you don't care about first to get the hang of it firs though. Works on dvd's & game discs and other cd and other types as well. http://jfjeasypro.com/shop/product/easy-pro |

Actually, Lon has the best idea. The resurfacer that we both use is now less than half the price it was when I bought mine- somewhere around $150 or so. Some supplies come with it, but it's a good idea to lay in more. I find that I can get the supplies cheaper on E-bay than from the company. Still way cheaper than using the tracks on PC by a LONG shot, and it pays for itself many times over. |
