I believe that thread disappeared right after I brought Jim's partnership in PEP to light. Don't know if that or your post had anything to do with it. Jim may simply have requested it's removal himself.

There seems to be a couple of threads missing plus a couple that are locked all of a sudden.

I did not request the removal of the thread and was surprised to see it gone.

Sadly, the site administration (Owner) decided those threads were unpaid advertisements.

Per site administration instructions, they where locked and moved to a holding area.

<---The left side of every web page has a list of paying advertisers.

We ask that you support them whenever you can.

Anyone wishing to become a paying advertiser can PM Phill Cross or email (webmaster@karaokescene.com) for instructions and rates.

Thank you for your support.

Wow.....

I suggest that by removing the post, the site loses revenue since fewer people will see the ads that would have been displayed if the post were there.

Of course I use AdBlock Plus so I haven't see ads on any site in years.

True up to a point, however, advertisements normally require approval of the owner, and an agreement on rates.
Not fair to paying customers, eh?

Is this to be a new across the board policy? I'm thinking of other threads such as the one where the new owners of Pocket Songs announced the return of that company. There were also a lot of threads where Gretchen used to answer questions about DTE. On the one hand, I could see how other advertisers might want the new Pocket Songs to pay for an ad and make their announcement that w. But on the other, many of these threads have to do with policy changes that are being clarified via question and answer. The Gem thread seemed to be more along that line, especially as it was a response to accusations made about the product.

We get a lot of information by having manufacturers on the forum and I would hate to lose that. If someone were to start a thread about a specific brand of mixer and the manufacturer chimed in then would that post be deleted as an advertisement or would it only be deleted if it was the manufacturer who started the thread? What about the people announcing their new songbook services or asking for beta testers? It seems like this will be a fine line between being fair and us losing information--especially as up to now, the other advertisers were free to join the forum and chime in on threads.

Then this thread should be removed as well, even if it is a FREE OFFER.

It is still advertising a service.

EDIT: I apologize for referring the linked thread above as spam. I see mckyj57's point below. Thank you.

You are quite tiresome at times.

There are lines to walk. When one company's discussions are dominating a forum, and specific information tending to promote their product is posted by a company representative, I can see that a line has been crossed. Yes, people want to discuss some things. I suggest you go right ahead; no one is suggesting that you can't start a new thread.

You are quite correct and I see your point. My apologies.

I have taken your suggestion and created a new thread here.

The new thread I created was removed due to that I placed a link to the PEP site. The administrators have told me in PM this is not allowed.

If people want any information on how to reach that site for info on getting permission to make authorized copies of SC discs, you can google 'Phoenix Entertainment Partners'.

Thank you.

That should tell Harrington and Kurt something. People are so sick of them and their way of doing business that NOW they can't even post about that business here, of all places. I think many people are tired of SC trying to get money for nothing. The new HELP program is just that. It is money for nothing. They aren't providing any content. You can get your songs from any source, including torrents. The program doesn't include any new material, whether this is ever any or not. So, all you get is "protection" from lawsuits. That is money for nothing. People are tired of it. They WERE a great Karaoke company, in their day, and for the time they were producing music. That time is long passed, and they have been surpassed by quite a few other companies, both in content, AND quality. AND, NO other company, except PRLLC, is looking to make money for nothing.

Not quite. He made a claim for that guarantee ONLY for KJs who become GEM renters SINCE THE INCEPTION OF Phoenix Entertainment.

Anyone who paid to use GEMS from SLEP-TONE is not covered his statement. In other words, the BEST customers are the ones that might get stuck.

Example: I believe DannyG2006 was the very first too have enough faith and loyalty to the SC brand to pay for the use of GEMS. He's not covered- at leastnot by what Jim posted.

Not quite... He stipulated you had to have purchased the GEM series on or after 2/25/2015.

(SIGH)

I've been hearing this line for the last 4.5 years. And as I have said every time someone cries "THEY WILL TAKE THEM AWAY!", I will be the first to eat crow and let you know what I get a knock on my door demanding my GEM set back.

Don't hold your breath....

I believe our "fact fabricator" is on temporary leave, but I will point out that Bazza's avatar shows the "very first too have enough faith and loyalty to the SC brand to pay for the use of GEMS."

I also acquired my GEM before DannyG.

I have a satisfactory business relationship with SC and as a no-charge certified KJ and GEM licensee I don't have anything to fear except fear itself... and maybe people who don't check their facts.

James - I was just asking you if SC/PEP will include on the GEM Series Agreement what you stated on this forum as far as the reimbursement is concerned if the GEM is recalled.

Yes, it is being added to new GEM Series agreements entered into after February 25, 2015.

My only comment is to say that 100% of our anti-piracy efforts have been focused on commercial activities. Emailing a friend or relative a recording of you singing does not strike me as a commercial activity.

It says to email the song, because according to the video that SC made the song is a digital format that can be easily shared. If I remember correctly it made no reference to a recording of yourself.

You don't remember correctly. It specifically says "record your performances" just before it talks about emailing the recordings. Again, emailing a recording of your performance to family and friends is not a commercial activity.
