Is there a decent, go-to version of this song by any manufacturer? I've tried this twice this month--one from a manufacturer I didn't recognize, and one from Music Maestro, and they both suffered from similar issues: the music was a little off time from the lyrics, and all of the lyrics were translated into English.
Does anyone have another manufacturer suggestion to try?

Here are three versions that would probably work for you:
Pocket Songs 1318 Sound Choice 8399 DK094
The Pocket Songs and Sound Choice versions have minor differences but both are good. If you listen close you can hear the pan flute in the DK version but it's the only one of the three that has the full lead in rather than just starting at Volare. All three bounce back and forth between English and Italian.
Best bet is to give all three a listen if you can and pick the one you like best. Biggest problem will probably be finding the discs. You'd have to find the DK version used and I don't know if the SC or PS discs are still in their catalogs or not.

But now I will look for the DK version--I think that was one of the options in the book, but I remembered Cue saying that Music Maestro was pretty decent at standards. Or maybe he said it was terrible, and I just remembered the manufacturer and thought he said it was good. I'm getting senile.

Lonnie, Dino used to start in English and then switch back and forth between Italian and English and I think that this is what the poster is looking for. The MM version is English only where as the DK, PS and SC versions all follow the English-Italian mix.

SC, DK, PS, MM - If you’ve tried all four & still not to your expectations, try Legends Series 017, track 8. I’m not saying its good, or bad. Just another suggested brand to try. Although the cd was titled as Italian songs, the key is about the same as that of Dean Martin, listed not Volare but ‘Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu (Volare)”. Exact same music.

For my money the DK is the best version that is the one I use. There is also the Bobby Rydell version on Sound Factory label, that one is completely in English.

When I was a kid my sister had a 45 recording of volare but the beginning it sounded like a movie and the one guy sounded like Humphrey Bogart and he was talking to a Indian Chief and towards the end the Indian Chief started singing Volare can't remember what happened to it though or what the name of it was think the name was how the west was won or something like that

It wasn't me... I've stood by the stance that MM is 50-50... Hit or Miss.

I have Nei Blu Dipinto Di Blu ... because I didn't copy my discs using the correct formating codes the manu. is listed in my book as MD. I know it's a similar brand to the american company star discs - could be mega discs. It is entirely in italian. Will double check what the brand is when I have more time.
