There is only a subtle difference between Chord Buddy and Guitar Hero type games. Especially the later versions of Guitar Hero with Drums, Bass, Guitar and vocals.

My point is that I believe this type of thing has run its course. I think the big window of opportunity has already past and it is not something that I plan on investing in unless I see some results for it elsewhere.

Again, had this come out 3-4 years ago, I would have jumped on it.

On the one hand, I think that it's a cool concept and could be a lot of fun.

On the other hand, I don't see just anybody being able to get up there and use it. A lot of people are not very coordinated and even though the screen prompts you to hit the right color, some of those cord changes happen pretty fast and I'm sure many folks will be hitting the wrong buttons.

And not everyone will know how to strum a guitar properly or keep with the rythem of the music.

And then you'll have the drunks. The same ones that are inconsiderate of your equipment, will abuse your guitar too.

And then you'll have the show offs who will start acting stupid and being irratating.

And then you'll have another piece of equipment (a big piece) that you have to lug around.

So, is it worth it? I'm still deciding. How about you?
It's only going to be good for those who actually know how to play guitar in the first place. We get lots of musicians that come in, but I think it would get kind of boring after while (if not sooner) for them - they play on stage for money and for fun go to an actual jam night with other musicians.
I definitely would not want someone that didn't have a clue thinking it was something like Guitar Hero where they just have to put their fingers on the dots & hit a button, get up there & waste an entire song looking like a deer in headlights.

We had a test run out here. We ran Chord Buddy Karaoke from 8-9. The first week it was pretty much demonstration. The next week there were people that came out early just to use the Chord Buddy. It was a great turn out!!!
