I was a loyal & supporter of Top Hits Monthly & then Stellars Pop Hits Monthly karaoke cd's for the longest time, SC was also included in the mix. I remember when BOTH of those companies, as well as SC put out GOOD disks with music people actually wanted to sing. You could get a disk & have 7 of the 9 songs (10 of 15 for SC) actually be what people wanted or was at least on the radio. After my most recent purchase from Stellar, I have decided that I no longer want to continue to waste my money on crap that people don't want to sing. A good friend of mine & fellow poster "TroyVnd27" turned me on to triceresoft a little over a year ago. I was skeptical due to licencing & not having a "hard copy" of a disk, but I have to say that I found more & more music that people want to sing on that site than any other. They're even have good NEW rock songs like Chalk Outline by Three Days Grace. They have a special going for 10 songs - $15 & I bought 2 ($30). I managed to get 20 songs that I know I not only have requests "to get", but people will actually sing. Having solely been in the karaoke business since 1997, I think it's sad that these companies that have been around just as long have gotten so out of touch with what people want that they will end up going under. Yes, I understand the licencing concept & I know they can't always get it from every artist, but I think they need to at least TRY & do something more than what they have if they intend on not only keeping their customers, but also staying in business.

I too was a huge fan of Top Hits Monthly back in the day. Today, it is definitely hard to find karaoke songs that people want to sing. The karaoke world is much different today than it was 5-10 years ago.

I agree that PHM is putting out terrible songs, but I think its simply due to a licensing issue. They simply can't afford to get the rights to particular artists.

Today, a KJ is best served by downloading tracks online. Most of your better song choices are now made in the UK by companies such as Sunfly. I use Select-a-Track for Rock/Pop and All-Star Karaoke for country.

I've been experiencing the PHM discs are starting to pick up more steam 6-8 months AFTER I buy them. No one wants them when they first release though.

Over the last few years, I always felt that PHM had the best new selections....I like their tracks, also........that would be for a cdg compilation, on both counts.

Noted a duplicate song on both PHM's pop and country releases for February. They must be struggling.

That does happpen on occasion if it's a crossover hit on both country & pop charts. Not everyone buys the complete sets and just buy the single country or pop (or even urban) disc. Doing it in the same month is rare, they usually wait a month in the past. to re-release the song on the other genre disc.

Hmmm, no duplicates on my Feb 2013 PHM

COUNTRY
Only God Could Love You More – Jerrod Niemann
Cry With You – Hunter Hayes
That’s When You Know It’s Over – Lee Brice
Brothers – Greg Bates
Sill Standing – The Roys
I Built This Wall – Amber Hayes
Mexicoma – Bucky Covington
I’m So Miserable – Billy Ray Cyrus
Free – Liana Conway

POP HITS
Lover Of The Night – Mumford & Sons
If These Sheets Were States – All Time Low
Sad – Maroon 5
Give The Love Around – Script
Letting Go – Stephanie Smith
Touch This Light – House Of Heroes
Empathy – Alanis Morissette
One Woman Army – Kate Earl
Feel It In My Bones – Killers feat Ryan Pardey

Checking their website, looks like country “I Built This Wall” by Amber Hayes duped to pop, so you’re missing “Touch This Light” by House of Heroes. Licensing issues maybe?

Looks like your disc could be worth a bit in future Brian.

Were it not for your post – I wouldn’t know about the substitute. Thanks. :)
