lol you haven't been to my show. I have all of these JP songs and the bolded ones get done regularly.

Before The Dawn

Breaking The Law
Hard As Iron
Heading Out To The Highway
Hell Bent For Leather

Johnny B. Goode
Living After Midnight
Ripper

Screaming For Vengeance
The Green Manalishi (With The Two-Pronged Crown)
The Hellion/Electric Eye
Turbo Lover
Victim Of Change
You've Got Another Thing Comin'

I HATE JP's version of Johnny B Goode!! I would love to see Blood Red Skies go Karaoke!! That is the BEST song on Ram It Down, IMHO. Painkiller would be fun to sing, too.

People tend to find what it is they are looking for when it comes to karaoke venues. If you have a reputation for having a metal karaoke show, the people who are fans of metal will gravitate to your show. I have been to thousands of karaoke shows over the years and only once in a blue moon do I see a person show up who prefers to sing the kind of music that you like. If I went to a new karaoke venue and 90% of the music being sung was metal music; I probably would go there often, if at all. It's not my thing. I would feel the same way about a show where 90% of the singers preferred to sing Broadway Show tunes. It is all about supply and demand. If there was an incredible DEMAND for those types of shows; there would be more of them around. You just have to face it that most people who enjoy karaoke are not people who want to sing what you want them to sing. I'm glad that you have people coming to your show who like the kind of music that you like. I'm just saying that I live in one of the most denseley populated areas in the country with loads of diversity. Maybe people that are into Judas Priest and other bands of that genre are just too cool to go to a karaoke Bar? Maybe those songs aren't that easy to sing for the fans of that style of music? I don't know why I hardly ever hear anyone singing that kind of stuff around here but I just don't. If I were a Karaoke Manufacturer, I wouldn't want to make music that would sell 10% of what other genres will sell. Sound Choice made quite a few discs over the years when they were actually producing music. How many Head Bangers discs did they make compared to Country discs?

It took me a few years to get it to a heavier rock and newer country crowd. I always hated the stereotypical karaoke songs that you hear at every show on any given night. When I first started it was an older crowd with all the typical karaoke standards. About 10 years into the show is when I started finally seeing a major shift in genre and crowd age. And it isn't like that EVERY night mind you, last night was a prime example of typical karaoke standard and old school country. I grinned and bear'd it but wanted to shove an ice pick in my temple while doing so lol

I agree. Actually had several requests over the years for Painkiller.

Think about where Lonnie is. He's in Seattle, or there abouts. What is Seattle famous for?? Alternative music and Heavy Metal. It's no wonder why he gets Judas Priest singers. When I lived on Long Island there were plenty of Alternative and Metal singers.

If I owned a Karaoke company, I would cater to ALL genres. But I would make sure the songs I made were popular songs. Most of what PHM made, on the Rock discs was crap that nobody listened to. At least SC's Headbangers series was made up of many popular songs. Many of them are songs that are still sung, today. As for Headbanger discs, they made at least 13. I should know because I have number 13 in my collection. But besides that they made Metal band spotlight series discs, like Hit of Metallica and Def Leppard, not to mention Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Creed, Nickelback, Led-Zeppelin, Rush and Queensryche, among others. I don't know how many Country discs SC made, but from what I understand they suck. They specialized in Rock back in the day.

As I said, unfortunately, I live in Country Music HELL, but I still, gladly supply my singers with what they want to sing, when they want to sing it, if I can. I don't refuse anyone a song, unless it is not available.

Sound Choice produced roughly a thousand Spotlight discs and Foundation and Brick discs. 13 of them were dedicated to headbangers. That is barely over ONE PERCENT. Good luck getting your favorite songs produced. You have a ONE PERCENT chance of being successful. LOL I just got 4 new Country songs to sing on the latest Karaoke Cloud disc and more and more good country songs come out on a regular basis. That is Supply and Demand working the way it is supposed to work. Obviously, people are buying the new ALL STAR Karaoke discs that are half pop and half Country. Pop Hits Monthly is still producing a Country disc every month and karaoke Cloud has been puttin out TWO discs each month with some Country music on them. The download sites are also putting out a lot of new Country music and even the sites that sell backing tracks are always releasing new Country songs. Hundreds of Country songs are made for karaoke every year and you are lucky to see a handful of metal tracks each year come out. Heavy Metal karaoke Shows are like White Tigers. They exist but you don't see very many of them in the real world.

But when you do find them, one can sure appreciate their beauty! Sure is a nice change from hearing the Rose or Friends In low Places every night!

Amen to that!!!

I have been to Karaoke shows where the majority of songs sung were Country, both old and new, and watched people yawn and get bored, until someone came up and rocked the mic with something heavy like No More Tears, from Ozzy.

Bruce, you seem to have glossed over the fact that while there were only 13 Headbangers Hit, which there were a couple more, there were also PLENTY of Spotlight Series dedicated to Rock and Metal, like Kiss vs. AC/DC, there were also plenty of Classic rock hits.

You act like you are winning some sort of victory over me because they made more country discs than rock discs. Just because they do doesn't mean I can't request the songs I want. I get some, I may not get others. Karaoke Version seems to LIKE making rock songs, since they make TONS of them. They seem to listen to their customers' requests.

I don't give a crap about supply and demand. I am a customer, just like those who sing at my show. They want what they want, and I get it for them, if I can. Well, I want what I want, too. If a company wants my business they will give me what I want, otherwise I will look elsewhere. I will give you an example, DTE will NOT see me buying any of THEIR music until they add sound bites of it. I don't buy stuff without hearing it first. Even Gretchen knows that. I bought DTE's version of Close MY Eyes Forever, and it was terrible. Even Gretchen agreed on that one. She thought it was bad, too. Had I been able to hear it, I would never have bought it. I won't buy from SC anymore. They don't offer single song downloads. Oh well, I don't want to be stuck buying discs I can't rip. Sorry, no business from me. So, I buy from All Star, SBI, Sunfly, Zoom and Karaoke Version mostly. They offer both single downloads and they let you hear the song before you buy it. BTW, they all have a good selection of Rock and Metal. Zoom is starting to catch up.

Everything is a fad. Rock will come back, just like it always has. People will get tired of Country, just like they have before, and go back to Rock. Then the trend will go back to Pop. This has been going on for YEARS!!

SC did a terrible version of that song as well. This would be one of the times I actually use another brand - I use the All Hits version over the SC.

I liked the SC version. Unfortunately, that disc broke in half. LOL.

All Hits, really? I'll have to listen to it, again.

The All Hits 2000 version is actually SGB. LOL. I know I think all bad songs sound like SGB, but if you compare them they are the same.

Which SGB disc is Close My Eyes on? I don't even see in MBD that it was ever released by them?

My bad. I just consulted my master book. Nope, no SGB version.

I'm no metal expert by any stretch of the imagination but the All Star Version don't sound all that bad. Is the problem the key that it is recorded in or just the sound of the guitar? It seems to me that any of the versions that I have could be sung without much of a problem; even the Sound Choice one.

I was used to the SC version. Sung it off that one for years, until my disc snapped in half.
