Either way, you are probably going to be completely out of luck from any manu for this one.

Nope, doubt you ever will. Put in a vote at karaoke-version, might be your only chance.

Crazy Rap - Afroman available for download at karaoke-version for $2.99

http://www.karaoke-version.com/karaoke/ ... y-rap.html

Download at your discretion. I read somewhere that karaoke-version & karaoke channel tracks are for private use & not for public performances. Maybe someone can verify this if it's accurate. Here's a brief from their FAQ "Can I use your instrumental tracks for public performances? Ans: We are happy to allow the use of our soundtracks for public audiences and other performances. However, we'd like to remind you that in order to be legally compliant, you must receive an official agreement from your national music rights management office (PRS For Music in the UK for example).
In the case of a non-commercial private event, use of soundtracks is, of course, allowed and unrestricted".

I would think the US equivalent would be the clubs paying their ASCAP/BMI/SESAC fees.

sounds like another one of those classic examples of a song that someone will go out of their way to sing for the sole purpose of "shocking" the audience.

My show is at a family restaurant, so karaoke songs with highly overt sexual & excessively explicit lyrics are excluded. Crazy Rap by Afroman is one that will not get listed in my book. I know, the words are probably blanked-out but some singers feel like they have to sing them anyway just to offend other patrons.

But in all fairness, the OP probably just wants it for his own private collection. :)

I agree there! Once the singer gets no response then it will become a coaster song.

I have quite a few of those. Lon. Some songs from PHUrban contain explicit lyrics. Although the words have asterisk** it can still be of some concern to other patrons (i.e., violent & provocative hip hop songs). I still screen them prior to listing it in my book. :)

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if the artist recorded ( not neccesarily karaoke) anything other than "Crazy Rap" and "Because I Got High"?

Afroman's album is titled "The Good Times". Track listing (only 1 & 2 on karaoke according to KJPro).
1. Because I Got High
2. Crazy Rap
3. She Won't Let Me F**k
4. Hush
5. Tumbleweed
6. Let's All Get Drunk
7. Tall Cans
8. Palmdale
9. Mississippi
10. The American Dream

Thanks for the find, Brian.

I currently work in two bars and an Elks Lodge. People in both bars have requested it several times. It would get me in big trouble in the Elks.

The same guy in one of the bars also does "Because I Got High". I had a non-singer customer complain that I should delete that song after he sang it, but, like I told them, it was after 10:00 pm, in a bar, on Friday night. If they want to sing it, I'm not going to say they can't. I'm not the morality police. I did hold him off on it until after 10:00, however.

There is a time and place for everything. I have been known to curse like a sailor but when I go to karaoke; I like to treat the other patrons with respect. I try not to sing anything that I wouldn't sing in front of my mother or grandmothers; god rest their souls.

Now if I was in the type of bar where anything goes and singing songs with explicit lyrics was the norm, then maybe I'd give in to the peer pressure and break out "First of May" by Jonathan Coulton.... a song that I would never sing in a place with a family atmosphere.

I pride myself on knowing the difference between karaoke venues. I don't need to shock an audience to get attention. I can actually sing well enough to get the same attention without making my parents embarrassed by my behavior.
