Lady Gagas new single APPLAUSE was released today.....and if this is what the first song is like..the rest of the album..I hope is just as good. If you haven't heard it yet ..give it a try I have made a request for this song to put out on Karaoke version.

Rehashed stuff. Nothing special about it.

Maybe it’s just by area but I think her popularity is decreasing as evidenced @ my show. Hardly anyone sings her songs anymore. (Where’s the beef? We want to see her raw Argentinean beef dress). ooops, maybe not! Sorry, Gemini – can’t resist.

I have one girl that sings her stuff on occasion, otherwise not a lot of interest at my shows either. She had her 5 minutes in the limelight I think, but who knows. I'm not impressed 1 bit with this single. Even my daughter was kind of excited and said - huh, nothing she'd listen to and she loved her.

I have a GUY that sings Bad Romance and it is a hoot. He has a great time with it. No one else really sings her stuff right now. On a side note, my 17 year old daughter (she was 16 when we had this debate) had a healthy discussion about the staying power of music and I summed it up this way for her. Next year, you won't hear any of the current Lady GaGa songs on the radio. In 10 years you will not here Lady GaGa on any "classic pop" radio stations ort streams or whatever we have. In 30 years Lady GaGa will be completely forgotten as if she never existed as a musician. At that same time, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles will still be heralded as influences on the music being produced in 2033. In is now next year and prediction #1 is accurate. -Chris

I think it could grow on one. Especially if someone sang it right after someone did "Picture" and it got people into jumping around again.

Okay..... I listened to the entire track. I have to say my favorite part was......when it was over. Seriously though.......yeah.....when it was over. In all seriousness, unlike "Telephone" and "Poker Face" which had very catchy hooks and had interesting peaks and valleys, or "Born This Way" which has a great message, "Applause" is just a rapid fire, ho-hum, dance track. It was completely indiscernible from any number of other modern dance tracks I have heard. I love dance music, but this track just isn't very special. Here is my prediction - The official video is supposed to release tomorrow. There will be a big hoopla made because it is new Lady GaGa. It will get over-played on pop radio, and quickly re-mixed (and probably made a LOT better) by any number of DJ's, before falling off the charts to disappear into mediocrity (like much of her other music has) by December. Maybe longer if she is featured in the video skydiving from a hot-air balloon wearing an bikini made of Fruit Loops and strawberry ice cream while riding an ostrich. The longevity of this song will be determined by how well DJ's remix it, not by the original. -Chris

Not my kind of jam but regardless, I’ll get the song. I’m sure some tweens will request it. Its ‘scheiße’, not as good as her earlier tunes. Gonna be a tough sell to topple iTunes’ # 1 spot, Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’. But who knows? It could happen!

BUT...did you compare I tunes rating and review lets do Roar by Kate Perry - 6,605 ( 5 stars ) 1,283 ( 1 Stars ) Appaulse by Lady Gaga - 6,385 ( 5 Stars ) 749 ( 1 Stars ) Although Roar has more downloads the reviews speak for themselves....in ratings...it seems Roar has been the disappointment

GeminiMALE40 wrote: Although Roar has more downloads the reviews speak for themselves....in ratings...it seems Roar has been the disappointment Say what you will, no amount of stats will convince me otherwise. Roar shot to # 1 on iTunes chart the 1st day, Gaga’s still struggling to elbow her way to 2nd spot. Don’t get me wrong, I like her older stuff; bad romance, poker face, etc., stronger appeal guaranteed to fill up any dance floor. Pretty much no comparison when it comes to Applause (imho). Ms. ArtPop vs. Ms. Prism, we’re just gonna have to wait & see. I think instead of competing, the two should join forces, form a formidable duo & combine their names: Lady Perry or Katy Gaga!

Ok, I just listened to the Katy perry track.
In my opinion, absolutely no comparison. It was still too repetitive for my tastes but at least it sparked some emotion instead of making me want to take a nap

I'm betting more people will sing the Lady Gaga one than they do the Katy Perry. You would have to think about that one a bit.
