Gemini – perhaps you should reread the post. I thought that the post was very clear in stating that we are seeking “beta testers” and not seeking opinions as to what you think this product is or is not. I have clearly stated that if you are interested in becoming a beta tester to post. Meaning that if you are not interested, then don’t post. Also as a result of previous posts that you’ve made, it is obvious to me at least that you are a person with some very strong opinions. That in itself does not make you a bad person but it does render you as an unsuitable candidate for being a beta tester. Before I even posted this request I had already determined that there were a few posters (none of whom other than yourself who have posted thus far) who would not be a good fit for us as beta testers and you were amongst that group of posters. Of course I’m sure you’re fine with that seeing that you aren’t interested to begin with.
The whole point of beta testing a product is to analyze the product from different perspectives and viewpoints, points of view that the developer may not have ever considered, overlooked or thought of. The developer is trying to understand what is good and what is bad about a product from an outside point of view before he/she brings it to market. For example, a seasoned KJ will see products in ways that I never could or would have, and could make suggestions that could ultimately be responsible for making or breaking a product. Even if this were an “audio” product as you’ve assumed it to be but which it is not, the idea behind beta testing is to get people to test the product and get their opinion as to how it might work in certain scenarios. In other words pointing out all of the positives and the negatives and offering ideas that could be helpful in mitigating some of the negatives.
What a beta test program is not is a venue courting individuals to dismiss the product without even knowing what it is or any of its details. With that being said the type of person that we are seeking to beta test this product is the type of person that is willing to think outside of the box and try something new or different. These are the early adopters who in the end are well rewarded for their risks and/or efforts as opposed to the naysayers of the world who are afraid to step out of their comfort zone. The product that we will be testing is different from anything anyone has ever seen in the karaoke world, but it is going to require a certain skill set that some KJs may already have or in the absence of these skills, will need to acquire. A possible peripheral benefit to KJs could be that it may help reduce some of the $50 per night KJ competition with an illegal hard drive by being able to provide a service that they can’t. Ultimately, this product could end up separating the men from the boys and providing the patrons with a karaoke experience unlike anything they've witnessed to date at the hands of a knowledgeable and experienced KJ.
Nevertheless you should feel a great deal of comfort from the fact that you are not alone in your way of thinking. When we were first pitching the Top Hits Monthly line back in the summer of 1995 to dealers and distributors it was met with much resistance, naysaying and negativity. They all said that the karaoke market had no place for current releases and that the market was made up of largely Elvis wannabes, Patsy Cline clones and the like. It was a time when there was still a measurable resistance to the CD+G format as there was still a fairly large contingent of KJs who were using Pioneer laser discs that disliked the CD+G format. Well I think that history speaks for itself and shows that there were many KJs who thought more like we did rather than that of the dealers.
So with that being said, please refrain from further comment on this topic as this post's only purpose is to seek out those who wish to become beta testers and nothing else. You are always free of course to make your views and opinions known elsewhere on this forum.

Darn it! I was hoping that Gemini was correct when it came to the audio files. ;c( I was hoping that you might be offering a service simlar to karaoke version. I thought that you would be providing audio only tracks for the good songs that you couldn't get full karaoke licensing for so folks who were capable, could make their own CD+G files with superior audio tracks than are made by some of the other players. Oh well. Still interested though.
