Assuming what Chris posted is true... chrisavis wrote: I recently received and email from Sound Choice that included a variety of things, but this is what excited me the most. Sound Choice wrote: At Sound Choice®, our biggest goal is to get back in the studio and start creating new karaoke music. Because of piracy and restrictions from the music publishers, there is little new legitimate karaoke music being put out by any karaoke manufacturer. We hope to finally change this. When we make new music available, you, our loyal GEM licensee, will be the first to benefit. We do not intend to make the music available to the general public – only to GEM Licensees and Sound Choice Certified hosts. But, it costs about $25,000 - 30,000 to record, license and distribute 15 new songs, which is still a substantial hurdle, given the on-going piracy and difficulties with US publishing restrictions and limitations. If there are any “gotta have” songs from the past that have never been released for Karaoke, send us your suggestions, in addition to the songs of today with “staying power” that will still be worth singing 3 years from now. ... and Sound choice is planning to get back into production, here are some of my suggestions (I did not see them listed in SBI, Selectatrack, Sing to the World, Sunfly or Karaoke-version): Wildest Dreams - Asia Hard on Me - Asia Cutting it Fine - Asia Daylight - Asia Eye to Eye - Asia Too Late - Asia The Heat Goes On - Asia Go - Asia Don't Be Afraid - Boston Oh My lover - The Chiffons I Have a Boyfriend - The Chiffons Girls - The Moments and the Whatnots Together We're Better - The Partridge Family Only a Moment Ago - The Partridge Family I Can Feel Your Heartbeat - The Partridge Family Twenty Four Hours a Day - The Partridge Family What is Love - The Playmates |

Good luck on those. Looks like high demand tracks that will fly off the shelf! |

Karn Evil 9 is out on All Hits, have had it since that disc came out - it's never been sung once. |

Point Of Know Return. I wondered about the word choice of “know” also when the logical choice would be “No”. It was all in the song lyrics: to know when to return. Your father, he said he needs you. Your mother, she says she loves you. Your brothers, they echo your words: "How far, to the point of know return ? Who knows that when you could see it You cried with fear, the point was near. Was it you that said, "How long, how long How long to the point of know return? Anyway, I have 25 sc tracks of Jimmy Buffett (3 duets: M.McBride, T.Keith & A. Jackson). I would like to request Buffett’s “Please Take Your Girlfriend Home” I think the original title was Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home. |

posted this in the other thread as well, don't know if it fits the requirments, but I really wish someone would do "I'm a stranger here" five man electrical band. plus a whole buttload of Canadian artists, who are getting a ton of airplay but for one reason or another will not end up on karaoke. |

I have edited my post to remove those titles. |

TopherM wrote: Good luck on those. Looks like high demand tracks that will fly off the shelf! Thank you very much, but I don't need your sarcasm! When I was doing a show, I had people asking me for more Asia and even Partridge Family. I know that the titles may be obscure, but that doesn't mean there's no chance of any being done. I'd be happy if 1 or 2 make the cut. |

I dunno. Five of the Asia tracks I recognize and would try myself. Another Asia track I'd like seen done is Sole Survivor. |

A thought. Everyone is thinking of songs that have never been produced before. But SC's claim-to-fame is making "better than your average manufacture", spot-on renditions. What about popular core songs from the last few years that exist by the other manufactures, but are done poorly or mediocre? |

What 'core' songs from the last 5 years would be good staples that still get sung? I can think of very few that weren't made well by other manus. All-Star was covering it pretty well - while not the best, they were doable. And again (at least for me) if they were to put out songs that are already available, the original song would have to have been done so bad from ALL manus, and it would have to be songs people still wanted to sing. Most of the songs in the last 5 years don't get sung anymore. Adele I thought would be huge - I bought up as much as I could - never gets touched anymore. Red Solo Cup? Gangnam Style (extreme example I knew this one wouldn't last). I think for them to get back in the game it would need to be a disc of never before released material from any manu that has been requested by the masses throughout the years. |

Personally I think they'd do best to pick some of the biggest karaoke plays from the last 5 years, ones they didn't make. I think people would pay to get a "greatest hits of karaoke 2009-2014" from Sound Choice. What those songs would be, I don't know. I can think of "Wagon Wheel", "Toes", and a couple others that still get regularly sung. This would allow their Gem Series to become more applicable, and might sell some disks for people who just want to upgrade on popular stuff. They could even pad it with some very popular songs from 2000-2009 that may be out on Spotlight but not in Foundation. |

Personally, I was hoping that they would consider my original suggested idea. Release a couple of new songs, and maybe one or two out of print favourites that have not been available for a while now. They could base it on a lottery style thing. They pick a couple of their most popular OOP songs, people vote and the winner(s) get released again. -james |
