Quote: So whoever this person is.....I don't support the fact they are subbing other artist's material
When this was found out about, wasn't it brought up on the bboards ? There were a few cases where it was revealed that an individual in Singer's Showcase was taking credit for a recording artists work they were submitting. Actually three that I recall...
1) A girl who was using several SN's in here, and taking credit for a pro's work
A women who lived in florida. She actually followed the "hits" to her site and
it led her to here
2) Some girl (more recently) who Jazzy found was taking credit for the work of
A girl that recorded in Hawaii, or a Hawaiin pop-singer
3) and THIS is the most annoyong, "OK what now" submitting My vocal work
and taking credit for it.. I've told him over and over again, "Billy it's
understandible WHY you envy my gorgeous voice, but people are starting to
think that I'm one of the people that only posts on these bboards, and never
submits anything to SS; It's time to come clean, and tell everyone who's really
singing the songs on all that stuff you submit as your own performances.

Quote: I commented on a sub and there was one right there below mine...How do you just ignore that?
Those of you affected by it don't Rita, nor should you. These bboards are to discuss issues regarding SS, and Karaoke related issues. Obviously problems in SS aren't out've place. What I was referring to, is that those of us who aren't involved *can* opt to ignore the ongoing problems, and choose not to get involved in any aspect of "how things should be". Thing is, I'd like to see that WHOLE system reconsidered and AT LEAST see a better description of "Critique" with an explanation of required conduct by those requesting the critique, and leaving the critique IN ADDITION to Critique NOT being public. It also sickens me that people who exploited being at the receiving end of the Critique category over a year ago, and bashed the individuals leaving them well constructed, and well-meaning advice STILL post under the "C" category. THAT'S what bothers me the most. When people trash the person who gives them a Critique that they ask for (perhaps mentioned something very minor as an attempt to try to help them), and in return, the person offering the Critique ends up getting trashed, and essentially told "Why is a person of your ability telling me that..LOSER". Yet they STILL post in "C"... That maddens me to see.

My comment wasn't toward your comment. I agree with what you said. The Critiquing thing is a really old subject. One that probably will never be resolved either. There was constructive critisism but then you know that got nasty sometimes too. This has gotten way beyond that and I realize that it does not affect the people that don't sub on SS and only post here in the forums....as it should be. My comment was more in answer to Foxe's comment about the person that sent out the PM's. The request was for people to sub (1) one sub as "Listen Only" in support of Unity on the site. I don't see anything wrong with that. But yes..this person has posted a couple of songs that are not thier material and I don't agree with that but that doesn't stop me from understanding what they are trying to do.

Actually that sounds like a great idea. I wish ALL that don't genuinely want a Critique, can't handle criticism, and sense that there's a chance someone might be "out to retaliate" would sub in the "L" category ALL the time for unity and peace in the site ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) .

![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) Well, I guess that's okay too. But there are some of us that enjoy the site for the social aspect of it and would like to sub "just for fun". Since there is a category to that effect then we should be able to use it without having to put up with what's going on there now.

That shouldn't be going on over there. It's exploiting a feature on the site IMHO,
and it's instigation. A quick, and cheap way to inflame many on a closely knit site. When people expend a lot of energy on making a place such as SS work, "outbreaks" such as that rile up many.. It's hard NOT to absorb it. People that do such a thing usually know this too. It's a quick easy way to start a war.
While it's totally understandable as to why people end up not liking one-another, using comment boxes for carrying over personal vendetta upsets ALL reading it.
It bleeds onto those that don't want involvement. Even though it's immature.
Why not have a feature in the "comment boxes" that enables the performer to delete a limited number of comments left for him/her per month, or something similar ? That sounds like a decent idea IMHO... If I must say so myself
Hey Phill, I have an idea !! Singer's are allowed to delete one comment left for them per week. You hear that ?????

Tonight is genuinely eerie on SS folks...people are deliberately submittng and not asking for COMMENTS, let alone critiques. This all has something to do with a lot has been written already by Rita.
I also do wish a certain person who fortunately only stops by on semi-regular intervals would take his overinflated but misguided ego elsewhere as he threatens to do almost regularly. It seems whenever something constructive is trying to gain some footing there is always one of these toxic individuals who excel in that area of nondevelopment. I'd say if you are that angry at the world, take it out in your music and do yourself (and us) a huge favor. Someone here is trying their hardest to help a bunch of people who just want to improve, nothing else. It is as simple as that. I see nothing wrong with it. I'd hate to think I've spent the last 42 years of my life not wanting to better myself in any area of interest I might have and to acquire knowledge as much as I can.
Some find this a worthless pursuit; many others do not. They will probably never understand the thrill of learning, or that satisifaction that comes when one gains mastery over a long sought goal. You know, I played piano professionally for many years--I'm very good actually. I never played to win approbation from the audience or whatever crowd was listening. I played namely because I enjoyed playing, and hey, I could make money doing it. That was a while back. Today I give concerts in my home to whatever inanimate objects happen to be there and I still get the same satisfaction from playing then when I was younger and had a lot of applause every time I finished a number.
Sorry, it's just been a weird experience around here as of late. I'm fine by the way, finally cooled down today, sat by my fishpond tonight and listened to music for a good two hours....now that is relaxing!

I noticed Michael. I stopped into SS earlier, and noticed the number of "L" submissions. Since I had no awareness that this was a planned out event, I thought, "Finally, people that don't want the headaches of others comments have learned there's an "L" category voluntarily.
I had another idea btw, since when stuff like this happens, it's more beneficial to attempt to think of ways to resolve such issues from repeatedly happening. Would it be possible for there to be a "disallow" feature such as what we have in the control panel pertaining to PMs. What this would mean is that assuming a singer isn't getting along with another individual on the site. They can disallow another individual to leave them comments, rank, critique, etc. ?

Michael. If this refers to me then you should get some counciling. I couldn't care less about you or you ventures and you should stop initiating negative contact with me. If I have an ego because I try to see the side played by the devil's advocate than so be it. That's my perogative. You could do better by never mentioning me again. (and NO ONE cares that you're gay, so please stop mentioning it) -it means nothing to most of us. This is just karaoke.

Steve, while I was outside I was listening to a CD of recordings by Thomas "Fats" Waller, a most remarkable stride pianist and composer of the 30s and 40s. Even though I was not looking over his shoulders of course, I am listening to this man perform absolutely dazzling manuevers on the keyboard and he made it sound all so easy. That's my definition of an accomplished performer. They make it look effortless and yet you are spellbound as if there were some sort of arcane magic involved. He's worth a listen if you're not familiar with him, although I imagine you certainly are.

I haven't heard him in quite some time. I'm going to DL him tonight. I'll bet he has video performances in a few of the performance sites.

I really am not well informed of the nature of this "bashing" situation occuring in the comments boxes myself, nor have noticed any in commenting myself so not entirely sure what is constituting "bashing" here--not discounting the claims, just have not seen the actual written statements. You know, I had mentioned youtube.com; I have several movie clips of mine as well as some recordings of mine. It works out rather well.
There is a rating system (I believe it is up to 4 stars--I kind of like the "star" rating system for various reasons) and people rank you anonymously if they wish or they may also leave a comment. You have to go through a few loops to leave a comment (so the person must have something they really needed to say) and the space is limited. People who are interested in your work may also "subscribe" to your folder and are notifed when something new pops up. My reasoning for putting any of this media up there in the first place was not to garner ratings or nice comments, but rather a convenient place to direct friends and coworkers who might be interested in these things. It works out very nicely.

Chucky, Chucky, Chucky! That's low brow humor, friend. But humor is what this place needs. In the words of the Joker in Batman, The Movie, "This town needs an enema!"

I'm assuming Vernor's is some sort of medicine that Blue Bunnies get when they don't get any chocolate chips?
