well as you know Luly I joined Plenty of Fish, as a vehicle to meet people. Last night a guy contacts me and we talked for a bit... then he asks if I would be interested in meeting him at the Silver Spur for karaoke. All was cool because it was a public meeting etc, and I have been going stir crazy at home here. He was saying he was lonely because he only saw his kids for Xmas and wanted to go out but doesn't really like going to karaoke alone. He also recognized in his email to me that I am not looking for a boyfriend, just some friends.
Well I hauled my butt down there in record time, and we chatted for a bit.. when I went to turn in a song slip I realized I knew the KJ from the other place I used to go to, so that was cool. Well this guy, Ian, whom I barely know... starts asking me questions about when I plan on getting "out of my situation" (aka where I live). I looked at him and explained Brandon to him (my ex bf's autistic son for those who don't know) Then he asks me where I used to work before that and I told him Tim Horton's and Coffee Time... and within a few minutes he "had to go to the bank machine". I said okay, and he never came back. I am still trying to figure out what I did? I've NEVER had a guy do that to me, ever. I don't know if he was hoping for some sparks regardless of the "karaoke buddy" guise or what but all he had to do was say "Hey I gotta go now" and I wouldn't have been angry.
I'm assuming he was scared off by the idea of me being committed to Brandon, or didn't like that when I am working I don't make oodles of money....but how in the @#$% can someone who's supposed to be just a friend try and dictate how and where you should live???  
The UP side to all of this is that that KJ is very cool and entertaining all on his own (not to mention sexy as hell) so sitting alone didn't prove to be so bad. he even sang Dirty Deeds with me. It wasn't a bad night all in all... but I came home and wrote Mr. Ian an email telling him that the ladies on the site were just gonna love him and blocked him. I feel better now

@ Steven.... look at it this way. If I go out to the bar alone I get bugged by drunken men, and I know nobody in this town aside from my now ex boyfriend. I NEED to get out and meet people.. and the last time I was on the site I made a load of friends. I left them behind in my old town and since I've been in Kitchener I have not had much of a social life because my ex boyfriend prefers to be a shut in. Now that we've split I'm back at square one. This is a bit better than having to yank my hand away from drunks who try to grab and kiss it (yes that actually happened to me).

....and Don.. yeah I've had better job interviews, that's for sure. I wouldn't even have gone if I didn't want to get out of the house so at least I had a good time in spite of it all. It's just a reminder to me how stupid people can be (not just men, cause I know women do it too).
