I often read what he writes I just don't understand it most of the time.
He uses big words and Shakespearian innuendo. It goes right over my head.

In the email.... tell them there will be a vote (pick a date) with the items explained in the email. Then... the day of the vote....... set up the vote...... and the results will be clearly visible to all. Whatever is voted in ..... we will then submit to ADMIN as the wishes of the Majority.

Do you wish to have a BLOCK button .... that you can use to keep certain posters away from your page. Y or N
Do you wish to see the EDIT COMMENT box eliminated? Y or N
Do you wish to have a CRITIQUE area added to the forum and remove that option from the option list while submitting Y or N
Do you wish to see the numbers (RANK FEATURE) ommitted Y or N
If I am forgetting any .... please feel free to add.
I think this will get a lot of response and then it will be easy to see how to prioritize (Odie's question) and what we can omit ~ when a list is sent to ADMIN.
Cindy, how long do you think people should have to cast their vote on the issues you've listed above? 1 full day, 2, 3? Also, is there a way for people to vote on things other than the polls we have been running. Concerning polls, I think you can only ask ONE poll question per thread. So that would mean five new threads and polls. That'll work, but you want to make sure the five question/polls remain tied to each other somehow. Maybe Phill can arrange it so all five questions can be asked and voted on in one unified thread?

if that were to happen Don then all these pinned threads should be pulled and one summarising everything should replace them. That way folk wont get confused

Yeah Vicki, I think it's important that people don't get too confused about what's going on and that they're able to be kept up to date without having to wade through super long threads.

I agree, I also think we discussed about as much as we could think of to get to a point of creating a sensible summery.

Yeah Chuck, I think it's almost time to wrap up the continued debates unless somebody really has something brand new to contribute.

But! Maybe there's still a sizeable number of SS members who are just getting around to discovering our discussions over here!

OK, here's a timetable that might work:
Ask Phill to send out the vote notification e-mail on Wednesday the 24th.
Have the actual voting date set for Sunday the 28th through Wednesday the 31st.
That would give weekenders an easy chance to vote. Plus, extending it through the 31st would give most everyone, no matter what their schedule, an opportunity to cast their vote.
Maybe there's a negative side to having an extended final voting period that I haven't thought of? Speak up if there is. :)

Don, Cindy, [strike]Kaplan[/strike], Luly, et al.
Why not send a copy of the petition to Administration and ask them if prior to putting this to vote they'd even consider modifying any of the options enclosed assuming there was substantial interest ? Might save a lot of work. If administration says they are willing to consider making changes pending petition outcome, I think thats great. They might state what they are willing to consider changing, and also what they are not willing to change saving you some effort. (Just a thought)..

I sent Admin and e-mail on Friday and they replied already. They stated that they will happily review any of our agreed upon suggestions, but they could not promise to actually make the changes. To me it seems like a good idea to get as solid of a vote from the SS members as possible. Then present to admin at least the issue changes that received the strongest votes.

I kept it somewhere in between. If anyone thinks this poll should go on any longer than the 24th, please let me know.
This thread and the other 2 will be pinned of one weeks after that I will remove the pin. I think that is fair enough. Odie/Don and Luly can sum up the views of those who post in those 3 threads and then report the summery here or a new thread.
ps
Luly .... How many listen do you have for your 'song'? See if the number match with the number of those viewing this thread. That will tell us how many people are actualy interested in the change.

As far as I know there isn't really anything wrong with SS is there? I sub there all the time and all my subs are 'C' with never any problems. If I get a critique I take it in stride though I admit I don't always like it. But even if you do a perfect job there are always people that you don't please. Plus, I really don't see people posting any defamatory or rude stuff in SS. Maybe I just haven't been to the right place yet? People in SS from my experience are really great.
One note, I'd say that this poll should be placed under the forum for Singers Showcase as I believe that only people that are qualified and set up for SS should be able to vote and change the rules on it.
Bill Well, yeah I was. Hmmm....I leave for awhile and the wheels come off huh? You obviously have been on a SS vacation......

1. I THINK I summarized the 5 main issues that have been discussed. Maybe Odie and Luly can, for each issue that will be voted on, first explain the "new" or "proposed" change and WHY it was suggested .... and then find a few pro/con posts for each. (If they have time....these things take a lot of time to do).
2. I am not sure the number of views on Luly's announcement will be at all reflective of how many of the true SS members have listened to it..... since ANYONE can listen to ANYTHING posted ... whether they are registered or not. That is why so many of us have like 80 listens ..... and 12 comments. MOST of the listens are happening by non members.... or so it appears. But... I do think a mass email with Phill's email list will DEFINATELY reach all registered members with valid email addresses.

Mornin' Jian and all, I had 100 views before I pulled it. Once it got past the 2nd page I didn't see much point in keeping it up.
Whew, I was exhausted last night, went to bed early. But today I'm ready, spaghetti! Ok, just let me know what to do, my fingers are itchin' to type!

Some members of SS might only submit and hit the SS site once a week, or post one sub every two weeks. SHOULD these individuals have LESS say because they don't post constantly on the site ? after a few years perhaps the newness has worn off for some BUT they still care about the site AND should have a vote IMHO. Not ALL are daily participants like we are. Everybody on the Showcase site should have fair oppt IMHO to participate. I believe one week isn't enough time EVEN if you Email them. Give people with other stuff to do in life a chance to participate as well ! The world won't fall apart if changes aren't made IMMEDIATELY.. Let's LET ALL in SS see this !
As long as the poll to all is concise and brief with one-line KEY points (bullets).. It will be acknowledged by all that care enough within a several week time-frame but that's the MINIMUM amount of time it should be available. Some are away a portion of January. Some are loyal members and have been for a long time but post less frequently albeit steadily, right ?
