Sorry, it was just too tempting...  :brows:

Honestly, I'm sorry to hear that Bill.  Hope you heal quickly.

Well thanks Luly you sweety. Seems I am doing pretty good. I don't really notice them as a problem much lately, but I assume if I tried to stress them with side to side, or accidentally leaned one too much....Ouch. My left one will be unstable now for some time. The right one hasn't hardly ever been sprained, but over the years the left one has 20+ times and apparently now fractured too. I was hoping to start jogging more cause I was going to Colorado mid June with my brother and we were going to climb some fourteeners. I really need to work on the aerobic because my asthma has been bad and we will be at altitude. I may find out since I now have asthma that I really can't climb, or hike at high altitude anymore. I hope not. I'm hoping that the mold and stuff that I am allergic too here won't affect me up there and suddenly I wll be able to breath well.
Y'know Bill, I found a ton of mobility issues after recovering from two broken ankles, and how they healed... When I decided to pick up the martial arts again, I found a wonderful teacher that really worked with me over the three years I studdied under him... and I found myself getting into twist stances that I thought impossible before...

Best of luck to you on your road to recovery!

Matt

Thanks Matt for the well wishes and words of encouragement. Perhaps it is what you do to recuperate that makes all the difference. Guess I am about to contact the physical therapy people. Lots of work balancing and retraining the brain, strengthening the muscles that were damaged probably makes a ton of difference. I've had a couple of Dr's tell me that after being severely sprained you have to retrain the brain and nerve memory so that it is 'aware' again. Otherwise you can turn your ankle over and be completely rolled over and reinjure the ankle before your brain is even aware of it occurring. That's kind of scary. Probably a lot of drills and balancing on 1 foot at a time will help.

All that said....like I say I am doing well...able to get around and all without much problem.  Yesterday I even ran one slow lap around a track without a problem. I'll be after it and hopefully resolve it all in the near future...I just hope I can get it back the way it used to be..plus it sucks this happens only a month before I was going to go climbing / hiking in the mountains. While I don't think it will prevent me, it has greatly slowed whatever workouts and training I was going to do in preparation, and will probably limit what I can do on steep slopes.

Hey Sharon, how are you? The injury....good and not so good. Like I said I was trying to get in a bit better conditioning for climbing mountains mid June. I did a lot of disc golf with Jeff which is walking and some hills rocks, and I rode the bike some, did my exercises and therapy and it was improving...well until I quickly went up Enchanted Rock. Enchanted Rock is a large granite dome - some 500 feet elevation gain or so. I went to the top in about 19 minutes which was a fast walk. On the way up I pushed off from the side of my foot and re-injured my left ankle some. I didn't think it was bad but it was bad enough to reverse a lot of my progress as the ankle started swelling again. I also kind of messed it a bit in the last month or so on the tennis courts during a misstep. Therapy lady told me to only do the bike and her exercises so I may have to actually do that.

As for the climbing I had a great time in Colorado. My brother and I climbed a warmup mountain from about 8000 feet to 10,000+ more or less straight up the side making our own trail. That was tough and stressed the ankle a bit more as well on some of the steep grades. It was beautiful on the top though. I had wanted to climb the Wetterhorn Peak http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wetterhorn_Peak as our goal, but a trout fishing guide that had climbed it before told us it was still covered in a lot of ice. Instead we chose Handies Peak http://www.wilderness.org/wherewework/c ... s-peak.cfm which is supposed to have one of the best views from the top of any Colorado peak. We went from 10,000 to about 13,000 on about a 5 miles hike up and were then stopped by snow cover that was still fairly deep and all I had was tennis shoes on with slick soles. I crossed a couple of sloped snow patches and nearly lost my footing which would have meant sliding very far off down the mountain. I figured the more difficult snow would be worse. It was hard to give up the summit, but there will be another day. I forgot we need to climb these in late July or August. The view was spectacular though and we spotted some Elk at the top of one nearby peak, and also saw some Marmots. We caught many trout too and it was a wonderful trip.

So, I'm back now, and I guess I need to get my ankles in real shape but it will be hard to relinquish myself to just riding the bike. I'll do what I can. I assume if I don't do anything stupid and go to physical therapy I should be able to get it healthy again although it has been aching and swelling lately.

It was my positioning while reaching down to the floor to pick up the computer afterwards.  Had nothing to do with the actual Main event

Jerry.  How many pair of shoes do you own ?   Do you like to accessorize your summer warddrobe and hang your shirts with other shirts that are the same color near the corresponding colored belts and complimentary matching pants ?   Does you watchband, belt, and shoe choice match when you go shopping with the girls ?
Do you properly roll your socks and undies in the dresser drawer and use bars of soap in the drawers for that "fresh" scent ?

Seriously !   Don't give me some wussy, pansy-A$$3e answer !   Be a man !

Point being,  this is why I like being on top now !  and you have to admit,  intimacy is much more wholesome when you're typing as opposed to holding a phone.
