Heck, it's no wonder I feel this way about it though....it's always joked about as something preventable.
My best advice to everyone is to see your dentist regularly twice a year for professional cleaning. And floss religiously!! Especially if you smoke.

As a kid, we were poor pretty much, so seeing a dentist regularly wasn't an option.
No excuse though for me to neglect myself further after I went on my own.
I thought brushing atleast twice a day was enough....apparently not. It's the plaque or tartar that gets under the gumline that needs attention the most.

I guess I'm a little upset that someone I like of the opposite sex (not here) seemed to treat me differently after I revealed my little secret.

He was very right to give his opinion and not just because of the infection.  There's now evidence gum problems can be an indicator for not yet evident heart problems--plaque causes buildup in the arteries which lead to blockages which lead to....

okay my leave application has gone in for my trip, should hear by the end of the week if it is acceptable...I have put leave in from 10th May so I shall try and get a flight on the night of the 9th of May which would allow me to land in LA on the 10th of May. How long I am in LA largely depends on whether Rob, Joyce and Paula want to catch up.
Then its on to Phoenix to catch up with Barbara and Russ
Then to Tennessee...first to Nashville to stay a couple of nights with my friend Troy and then if its still on...the Smokey mountains bash Bearing in mind that most of you have jobs we will have to work this into a weekend maybe??? or would it be easier mid-week to avoid KJ gigs? anyway if folks can kinda let me know then I can plan where to go and for how long based around whether its best mid week or weekends

I think I could hack it easier if I had someone to travel with so's I don't become a big fat chicken and purposely miss my flight.  :yes:  Heck, I can DRIVE to LA to meet up with you.

I mean, really, all you gotta do is hide the itenerary, tell me the flight is not until the NEXT day, then take me out and get me nice and drunk... and woolah!!... get me to the airport. And I'll wake up hungover, in Nashville. By that time I'll realize I'm not going to die on an airplane, and I'll be good to go for the flight home. (or... someone in Nashville will be keeping me)  LOL

That's gonna be right about the time I'm due my paid vacation anyhow. And I'm dying to go back to Nashville. This would be a perfect time, with the bonus of getting to meet people from here;)

I just gotta figure out a way to get a bit north of there, cause there's a spicy little gal named Tammy I'm dying to meet.  (and I think she likes ME too)

Perhaps she could come join everyone though, I'll have to see.

Hell, out of the 2 choices though, I think if given a chance, I'd have to go meet her. Not that meeting LOTS of people wouldn't be awesome fun... but I feel like she's my kindred spirit or something, you know? (or, my unknown redneck 3rd cousin of my 2nd cousin Billy Bob who met her aunt Lulu in 4th grade, then divorced him and got with his 1/2 brother Willard Dean?) Somethin' like that. Muahaha... I just know, if I travel a LONG distance, I better meet Tammy in the process.

Well OK, I'll volunteer to check out the "raw" footage first just to put my  :2cents: worth in.  It's a thankless job but somebody has to do it!  LOL

Teresa...lemme see if I can remember...I think Cathi has more of an idea but some of those that have expressed interest are:
Isis and the texas crew, Debbie, Nick, Charmin if we can get her on a plane or at least into a thelma and louise scenario with Tammy, JJ, Benny G, Milo, Rush, Steven John & Andrea, and a few more that I dont have names for cos I havent been around for a few days.
I should know within the week if leave has been approved...there is one more thing that could put a spanner in the works...my son has applied for a position in a metal band in Holland and they would be on tour around the time I am due in the states...this may mean I would have to do the states at the end of the trip...but I would know that by the end of next week hopefully

well my leave application was approved yesterday so I can now go ahead and plan my trip woooooooohoooooooooooo!!!!
Well I am gonna need help from folk in the areas I am wanting to visit...for example
what hotel/motel is best value for money and closest to attractions etc. What are the local attractions...that sort of stuff.
I will fly into LA on either 10th or 11th May...from there to Phoenix, then on to Nashville, then the Smokey Mountains for the planned get together...then to Chicago and then make my way to New York after that.
Sooooo how long will I need in each area? the other thing is..am I best to pre-book internal flights or should I play that by ear?

Arrive LA 10.45 10May 2008
Leave for Phoenix Monday 12th 12.50pm
leave Phoenix for Nashville  friday 16th May
evidently there is no direct flight from arizona to nashville so I am routed thru dallas...the travel agent can add a stop over there if required but at present one is not scheduled so I just jump on a plane and arrive in Nashville 6.05pm 16th May
I stay a couple of days with my friend Troy and Becky then its off to the Smokey Mountains to meet everyone at the get together

the agent has made a mistake cos she hasnt allowed me enough time so the rest of the itinerary is mucked up accordingly
so anyways thats the first half of the trip
