Schools are backwards up here Cathi.   They don't teach kids the compusory stuff that's important to know, and learn about in the early years.  So sometimes we find out via hard knocks, like the few times we arrive to class,  and looking at the empty chair that used to be occupied by a dear classmate, the reality soon hits .. "Hermiones was a snack"  (Of course sure enough as soon as the principle clicks on the PA..  We know what the message is going to be)..

Yet another classmate eaten by a gator on the way to the bus-stop.  If I had a nickel for each anouncement..  OK,  I need to snap myself out've this funk I'm now in

Horror movies eh? Yeah it's nearly Halloween again. Every October (or even starting in Sept) I start collecting old and new horror movies and try and watch at least one a day. I really get into the whole Halloween spectacle. Probably one of my favs of all time is 'The Shining'. It just seems a bit too real, and eerily haunts you for many years after watching it. I once experienced a house in Colorado (up in the mountains) that I was leasing for a while (but not for long!) that reminded me too much of 'The Shining'.

The other night I watched '1408' which I thought was really good. I have a few too watch at the moment - "Hills Have Eyes II", "Wicker Man", "Species - The Awakening", and also "Wind Chill" - to name a few.

Oh BTW....Hi Danielle welcome to the forums - of course!!! I see you have found Kappy - he's one of our forum mainstays, and probably one of the few that replies to my posts -  LMAO Thanks Steven!!

I love the Breakfast Club too, surely one of my favs.  OMG, The Wicker Man was such a great movie, I mean the original was great.  So creepy & the end was just horrific ohhhhh man!

My all time favorite horror movie, hands down is - The Exorcist! Gotta love a bit of reality, for it was based on a documented case!  :shock:

Forgot to mention. Besides that goofy funny money I showed you from Fitty, I grew up in Westport CT. and was neighbors with David and Linda Blair. In fact I was friends with David for a few years.  More Kappy Trivia.. I think I already said I couldn't watch the exorcist.  I wet my pants at the beginning of the movie during a scene with thunder and curtains blowing..

(Needless to say I was quite embarassed to find out that the movie hadn't started yet, I was watching a commercial)  :(

I think Linda was my sisters age.  I'll have to ask her.  I don't think I ever saw Linda (maybe she was in "that" room where the noise was coming from).  Folks even though neighbors (living in the same neighborhood) were still separated by at times 5+ acres..  They weren't next door neighbors, but Linda wasn't around much I don't think.. Not sure if she went to private school, or what.. Never really saw the parents around much either... The home was fenced,  and I wasn't CLOSE friends, just played touch football and stuff with the kids on the block. bus stop, etc.. and he was over the house a few times.. But this was a ritsy area and also around 5th grade .  People could live a few blocks apart and almost never see one-another..

A lot of people in Westport were into horses 'n stuff (I mean riding and owning them) .   I think she ended up buying all sorts of horse stuff..  (Shows how much of an equestrian I am)     One of these days I'll tell you what happened the first time I was put on a horse   I still hide under the car seat when we pass one of those monsters. Horses are VERY VERY dangerous !   Especially when the shock absorbers aren't working on the things

Yeah, I agree the Exorcist is great and one of my top also. Probably that and 'The Shining' but obviously for different reasons and approaches.

The Wicker Man eh? Cool, I still haven't watched it yet but I look forward to it. I just recently completed constructing a media room with one of my plasma tv's and surround sound system. I have a curtain on one side of the room making it look a bit 'theatreish' and even added a movie theatre like popcorn machine, microwave, and refrigerator and some nice comfy furniture to lounge on. It is very similar to watching in a theatre - so I've been enjoying all that. It's amazing the experience you can create in your home these days.

I just got in a few new ones too: 'BloodRayne 2', 'Broken', and 'Pumpkinhead 4 - Blood Feud' - ! Right now, I have a bunch lined up to watch so I suppose I had better get busy.

I saw a documentary on The Learning Channel or a similar channel about the real story behind it. It was actually based on a boy, and there were metaphysical things reported such as flying objects, and shaking bed - perhaps even some levitation - but I forget about that part.

I also watched 'The Possession of Emily Rose' and found it intriguing as it is also based on a true story. I did a lot of tracking down on the internet and found references to it about a year ago. I forget most of it, but I do remember that they had recorded some of the sessions of the exorcism and after digging around I found one online. I was kind of freaky to listen to. One of them was entitled something like 'conversation with the devil' where they asks questions and got some replies. I believe I translated some of it using Bablefish.

I can't find the link to that one right now. I actually sent out an email to friends with explanations and research and the actual site with the transcriptions in another language. I can look it up if anyone is interested and repost if the links are still good. Yep, I heard that *Russian Exorcism* before, some parts were pretty freaky!  There is only one documented Catholic case in the US of an actual exorcism, and yep you're right it was a boy named Robby.  That's who/what they based the movie *The Exorcist* on.  

Beware, Kaplan was neighbors with Linda Blair's brother, so that still classifies him as ummm scary!  Possesion might be catchy!  :shock:
