Lonnie does use a computer in his show... it's a program specifically for rotation... a beta program he had someone build for him. It's got a bug or two (won't work with XP), and he just uses it for the customers, but NOT as a program to play karaoke stuff yet. Maybe that's what helped with the confusion issue.
I have issues enough! !

There's a rotation program out there for nothing, Takes your songlist created in KJpro and allows you to search for songs, much like most of the hosting progrms that are out there. Works with 98se all the way up to xp pro.

Well I actually had designed it back before ANY concept of computer hosting was around & it was created around '94 to work for my needs only at that time, nothing else. It's not for "nothing", it displays the singers, gives an estimated time till their next song, what time they sang last, what time a new singer was entered in the round. It will also display what song each person is singing, if I wanted to I can do a song search as well. Again, even when I do go to computer, i'll probably still utilize that program for the customers to view where & how I place singers, it basically was created to help eliminate the "when am I up next" question - which it basically has, they just look at the screen.

Sounds like two differnt software progs. This one was called KJHelper which was an offshoot o KRIS (Karaoke Rotation Information system) which you had to type everything in, no database to quickly choose the songs. KJHelper allowed you to use your KJPRO main songlist as the database. It was actually pretty good as untill I went digital, I used it to keep my rotation. Allowed me to 86 the original request so that I didn't have to worry about a singer who held a grudge against another to switch or remove their slip from the pile while my back was turned. Ran it on an old laptop that a firend lent me. If someone ran off with the laptop all I would have had to do to pay the person $25 for the laptop, that's how old it was.

Like stated, I don't NEED a computer to help me with my rotation, I use one to allow singers to know where they are at without having to bug me - they can look at the screen & see exactly where they are!

I understand that roxbox only allows like 10 singers in the program's rotation. All my shows have many more than that. How do you handle this situation using roxbox?

I too still use slips, probably always will even when I go to computer, I just lay the slips down in the order, someone hands me one, I put it in it's spot. The way I work it, singer is up, I adjust the singer/music, I put away previous disc & pull & cue next disc. Takes maybe 10 seconds max (after singer is adjusted) - but then I use all jewel cases clearly labeled, no disc binders to search through. I get out & talk with customers all the time about whatever. Computers may aide slightly in getting organized, but ultimately it's still under the kj control.
How did you ever train your crowd to only give you ONE slip? Before the kiosk, I would get handed three or four hundred request slips a night in batches of 5-15. I didn't have time to sort them out because someone was always talking to me or pulling on me, or telling me something I needed to know RIGHT NOW whether I needed to know it or not. Now I just click play. Clicking play is good.

If they handed me more than 1 slip, I would hand them back stating I only take one at a time. They would then give the 1 song & bring up their next when they came to sing.
I've kind of relaxed that rule over the last year though. I have more & more people that save their slips & they'll hand me a couple - usually a fast & slow & let me choose if the mood of the rotation needs changing.
I don't even require numbers anymore, many people aren't book savvy for some reason & can't find songs, I try to get them to find it first, but then just tell them to write the song & i'll get the number. 9 out of 10 times I know it anyway - or at least the disc.

I haven't used RoxBox (cept in testing when I deceide what to buy), but I highly doubt it will only support a ratation of 10 people. Download the trial, and check it out.
If it did only allow 10, I don't see how they could get anyone to buy the program.

Nope. Roxbox handles hundreds, or even thousands, of singers in the rotation. You oughta try it first before believing this nonsense.

The best I have found is Compuhost from Karaokeware. I love the fact that it shows all singers on the TV, and you don't have to be asked 100 times when am I up. Also has music filler in between singers. I also have Swiftelite, but Compuhost is a better program. The program also works with it's own music book creater and you won't have to be adding each disc individually in the song book. The software also includes the CD-G ripper, which converts to MP3, WMA and ZIPS.

Hello, could you please use punctuation please? Majority of us have been to school & it frankly makes it quite hard to read & understand what you are saying.
