Your missing the point Vic.......I said....I DIDN'T RANK YOU A 7. How many times do I have to say that! Anyway, as for egos, How is it that you know how to go in and see what a particular person ranks you on a sub??? And why would you want to do that? Is that how you pick your friends?

There are various forms of this: take/extract the Mick/Mickey/Michael, although the 'take the Mickey' version is most often used in print.
It is sometimes reported that the phrase originates as a variant of the slang phrase 'take the piss' and the the 'Mickey' refers to micturate. This seems rather fanciful and there's no evidence to support that view. It is now more generally accepted that the phrase came about as rhyming slang. 'Taking the piss' does play its part as the rhyming slang refers to a (yet to be identified) character called Mickey Bliss. So, 'taking the piss' became 'taking the Mickey Bliss' and then just 'taking the Mickey'.

I agree 100%. In fact it's why I never will sub in the Showcase, and now that I'm singing, I can honestly as well as emphatically stand behind my conviction to NOT support such a venue. The showcase in my honest opinion is an insult to those of us that respect the arts, honesty, and maturity, and wish to become SINGERS. Some probably can't see this, but that atmosphere is a mockery to those that respect the performing arts, and know what it takes to succeed in the performing arts. Hey, Any site that would DARE rank me over a 4 next to singers such as Billy, Nathan, Dani, etc does not have my respect. The "everybody gets a gold star" stuff lost it's appeal shortly after kindergarten for me.
The setting might be fine for "Just Karaoke". But WHY do those that insist
"it's not a singing site, it's just Karaoke and for fun only"
support a rank system ? To me it's clearly a "singers" site where singers "showcase" their singing. I don't go into a site such as that to listen to the Karaoke backing. I go into the site to hear how YOU the SINGERS sing the song. As for where I like to see myself in such a system... Where I TRULY should be as a beginner, nearer to the bottom ! I don't wish to own trophys and degrees that can be bought on Ebay, I need to earn them in real, or just not have them !

Nathan, If you wish to go into an area where critique is appreciated and blatant honesty demanded go into the Critique thread. Those that tell me what would help me to improve are met with a "Thank you very much", because Nobodies opinion is to be challenged (since it's THEIR "truth"), and since I'm a very new singer I know my place in singing "pecking order", and it's at the bottom where it belongs. Since I'm new, my ego has not yet been corrupted by fluff and selfish dishonest praise given (often with the intent of baiting the individual into giving reciprocative high rank in return). I want nothing to do with it. I can't stand the politics, I don't side with any alliance in such issues either.. I JUST want to learn how to sing INDEPENDENTLY.
Reason for my attitude is this, It's REALISTIC, Singing well is hard, I've never been able to do it, and I'll never learn to sing if others bullxit me. My goal is to one day be able to be an honest average 6-7 rank singer, and that's a LONG SHOT... because in a singing environment a "7" average singer is a really good singer. I respect those that CAN sing, and my only goal is to be able to one day sing.
If I wished to bother or partake with the showcase BS, I'd form a secondary SN, and rank my own material 3 and 4 (where it truly is IMHO currently) to set a precedent, it's freak out those currently in the showcase. They'd not wish to see that, it's just not worth it to me.. A person CAN NOT improve in a very difficult area if they aren't willing to accept their place and a few real aspects.. Being good at something is hard work for most.
