Hey! Got a question about using Power CDG Burner with Compuhost. I wasn't happy with the way Compuhost was burning my CDG's cause of the messy graphics, so I downloaded a free trial of Power CDG Burner cause I heard you can burn it at a lower speed for better graphics. Well I did that and now when I go to put the ripped cdg into Compuhost....compuhost doesn't recognize it.....am I missing a step? When I rip it in Power CDG I rip it to a cdg+mp3 and use 1x speed...I have tried rippin' it to bin, cdg+wav, and even the zip all under the 1x speed and I put it in my music file and then when in Compuhost I do the Import/CDG option and open the same music file but Compuhost does not find it. I have Vista and am not sure if that has anything to do with it.....ahhhhhhh!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated......
Thanks,
Tray-ZZZZZZZZZ

How are you naming the files? Are you naming them to conform to one of the file naming formats supported by Compuhost?
The most common "industry standard" is as follows:
DISCID-TRACK - ARTIST - TITLE.zip/cdg
Compuhost supports several other formats, this is just the most popular.
IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT!
Pay special attention to where the spaces are needed, they are REQUIRED! Between the DISCID and TRACK is only ONE dash (NO SPACES!), between the TRACK and ARTIST you'll need SPACE-DASH-SPACE, and the same between the ARTIST and TITLE.

what about audiograbber? I've been using it for a number of years... I THINK since 2002, but I can't be sure.

Any ripper that outputs standard MP3+G or WMA+G files, zipped or not will work with Compuhost. In order for Compuhost to properly catalog/import the files they must be properly name formatted to adhere to one of the naming formats supported within Compuhost.

I have used power cdg burner and compuhost for all of my cds. Over 5000 songs ripped (I run it at 4x speed).
Getting the naming right is crucial with compuhost and sort of a pain, but otherwise I am very happy with the results. If the naming is close to right compuhost might even allow it into the db, but it still will not run (usually due to an extra space for example or difference between the mp3 and cdg filename). Usually when I am having problems it is due to the placement of "-" in the file name remembering that the first 2 "-" have to have adjacent spaces and the last "-" must not. Make sure to remove all "-" from song titles and band names.
So far I have only noticed problems with the ripping on 3-4 songs out of over 2000 that I have listened to full length. Of those about half were cut short and the other half were messy on the graphics.

oh well, I guess that's yet another problem with Compuhost... I've used other computer player software (winamp, clubdjpro, karafun, sax & Dotty's) all which read the mp3 tag and could care less how you name them!

I sorta prefer not having to deal with the MP3 tag.
My experience is a lot of different file names may be out there and songs, artists etc may be spelled incorrectly in the databases or when initially entered. With the song name at least I can see what the information is at a glance and batch renaming is easy. With the file name and compuhost going both to the same information i can also be sure my books and song databases match for how a band or song is spelled and named even if that is incorrect.

if you're naming them from the manu's discs, you don't have a problem with that.

if you're naming them from the manu's discs, you don't have a problem with that.
THe problem is that for example the beatles could be listed as:
Beatles
Beatles, The
The Beatles
Different manus have different ways of listing the band names. Many are much more complex in the differences.
For my song book I want people to be able to look only in one place.
Since I initially rely on CDDB for the info where avalible there is a lot of editing needed to create a standard.
Also many custom disks don't even give the artist name.
Even in the karaoke databases, some manus list R.E.M. as REM for example these all need to be sorted out.
To be honest I don't even know how to spell all of the band names as well, and I have to put a lot of effort into editing, correcting. This is a difficult task and I have even noticed errors in band name or song spelling in top manus such as Sound choice on the cd cases.
With file names I can easily convert 30 songs at once from Elvis Presley to Presley, Elvis at once in a batch rename.

Man it feels good to get things figured out... ![lol lol](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) !!!! Happy Friday to alllll!!!!!!

Fred, that's why I keep a spreadsheet (and later a database). It was very easy to go thru and find the spelling differences, and then do a copy/replace.
Once you have the songs named right in the spreadsheet, then do a rename on the tracks.
