Have justgot a new laptop dedicated to karaoke and am in the process of putting all my discs on it... Cdg's are going on fine thanks to fast tracks ( waiting eagerly for my compuhost to arrive here in nz!!) was wondering people thoughts on the most effective way of getting vcd's onto hard drive???  does anyone know if compuhost will take the various formats too??

Any help advice or guidance would be mighty..

VCD's are a pain in the butt as they are video files. I am not completely familiar with the progams available.

I can tell you you need a program that will extract the video file from the cd. More than likly you will need some type of converter software to convert the riped file to mpeg or avi.

More than likely it's not going to be worth the time, look to replace your vcd's with cd+g's

You may look here:

http://www.aoamedia.com/videoconverter.htm or
http://www.riverpast.com/en/support/tut ... at/avi.php

But from my experience: Depending on the format the files are on the VCD, there is a lot of manual work ... not sure if it is worth the time (like the above poster also mentioned).

I ran in the same problem with DVDs - there it might be somewhat easier, as the single songs can be extracted one by one and then converted to the file format of your choice - but still a lot of work.

If you find an easy way please tell me. I have yet again defer ripping my vcd collection.
