I am confused. I have copied from the original discs a few of my favorite songs that I like to sing at clubs when I am traveling. I used Power CDGBurner to copy these songs onto their own CD’s, i.e. one song to a CD. Now when I am at a club where the KJ has gone to computer he puts the CD in and everything works perfect. However, I was at a club the other night and the KJ was using a Numark CDN25+G player and it would not recognize the CD. It just kept spinning but the track would not play. Any suggestions on what I need to do to burn my on the road CD’s so that they will work in any setup?

Let the KJ play your Original CDG. If it plays....
Use Power CDG Burner or MTU's Microstudios and burn to a High Quality CD
i.e. Taiyo Yuden or MTU's certified Discs.
Some players won't play the Cheap CD's.

One thing you wnat to be sure of is to record your discs at the slowest possible speed. A LOT of players have a hard time reading cd/cdg's that were recorded at the faster speeds. I have a cdn25+g and NEVER had that particular problem with the one I have now.

Using MTU's Microstudios, I've Never had problems playing CDG on any karaoke player, burned at 4x with a High Quality Disc.
I've experienced problems with Low Quality/Cheap disc.

Mitsui Gold discs shouldn't have a preoblem reading on any machine (at least I haven't seen a problem to date). I know I have some cheaper brands that don't readf even on my Pioneer & it plays mostly everything. I have a couple 'gold' discs that were burned using 10 year old technology that still play as good as the day they were burned 10 years ago. MANY of my cheaper discs need to be replaced several times a year for some reason - they just quit reading in most players. The gold discs are more expensive, but cheaper in the long run since you don't need to re-burn very often (if at all).

I was told on the cheap discs, the protective layer wears off, then the reading problems start.

OK, just for the sake of conversation, if you use the most expensive, the middle of the road, or the cheapest disc available, what speed would you recommend burning them on. Let's be realistic. A speed that YOU KNOW will be readable on "every" player. Now, for a disc to use in your show , probably a more expensive format at 4x, or lower if your program allows. BUT, for your "carry arounds" probably middle to least.....also at 4x, or lower if your program allows. C'mon Lonman, I place a lot of faith in your opinions. Just want to hear yours on this.

4 speed... I've burned at higher with anew pc with NOTHING on it, and it did 20 OK, but had some minor graphics errors. I lowered that to 8 speed, and never had an issue.
With my home PC of now, I do 4 or 8 speed, and have no problems.

I have used MTU's Microstudio from the beginning and the burns have always been super clean from the beginning. Regardless of what speed I burn at I always get flawless burns.
On a similar note I have had discs that were scratched and made a backup with microstudio and the burn was cleaner than the original with the scratch. It actually repaired the scratch. That may be hard to believe but it has happened to me too many times to be a coincidence. Perhaps other MTU users can confirm this.
They make a great burning product.
Also for longevity of life on the discs, use they mitsui gold or silver discs. They cost more but last alot longer.

I use both Power CDG Burner and Microstudio 3 and 4. I use regular old Maxell CDR disks. I have never had an issue burning either at 8x or 1x. I have now been to 80 or more different places, and played my disk at least at 60 of those. Never a problem -- if they can play their own disk, they can play mine.

Thanks for all the input. I was concerned that because I was only copying 1 track per cd from my masters that perhaps there was some encoding that wasn't being burned that the Numark player was looking for.
I will try some new discs and slow down the copy process to see if that solves the problem. I sure hope so cause no matter what I will never take my originals with me to a show.

Retronut,
Good Choice! Didn't really mean take your originals. I burned soo many coasters when I first started.
You find a way that works, and stick to it. I stuck to it so much,
that when I bought Microstudios, I was still burning a 4x. What a Waste!
I just set my burn speed to MAX. The new disc came out Perfect.
I must say, the MTU users are Exactly right. Countless times MTU has produced
Disc's Better Than the Originals. I also use CDGFix to make them Perfect, when problems occur.
Kind Regards,
sw00000p

Hey swooop,
I'm not that familiar with the CDGFIX. Could you share a little info on ; Cost, can it REALLY fix cdg's with garbled graphics, ease of use, etc.
I went to the website and couldn't find any "novice" info, however the possibilities of what I've read on these forums concerning that program is "intriguing".
Donny "B"
Oh, one more thing. Will it work with CDRWIN (Goldenhawk)?

Hey Donny B,
Cost $70.00, It's Very Unique and Powerful. You Can Repair ANY CDG Quickly!
Garbled Lyrics, Scratches( Little Ones), Out of Sync... NO PROBLEM.
CDG contains only so many things that can go wrong! Corrupt files cause the majority of CDG errors.
Repair files by re-inserting Commands, Clicking a few Spots, POOF! REPAIRED!
Change colors, Trim Long Winded Songs, Sync Lyrics and Much Much More!
Sounds Scary at first, but after following the examples, Piece of Cake.
TIP: In the beginning, ALWAYS WORK FROM A COPY, Never the Original!
And this is tip of the iceberg. You can convert and mix formats:
CDG, SCDG, NCG, MCG to MP3+G and vice versa. Create custom compilations!
Remove Duplicates, create songbook, write ID3 Tags, export to .txt,.cvs, juketxt. INX menu and more.
It contains De-Interleaving... Works with Most Drives!!!
Before I burn a cdg disc, I load the Tracks into cdgfix and run the Scan File Tool.
If corruption exist, a list will pop up pointing exactly to the error(s), a few clicks.... Poof! Error Free.
Burn with Microstudios, Perfect Disc Everytime.
You'd be amazed of the errors on Brand New Disc that play great because your player allows for a certain amount of errors, Then the artifacts arrive.
Although I've had this software for over a year, I still can't use it to its Full potential! It contains Features/Funtions for Developers in compliance with "The Red Book" from Sony!
This Part... I Don't Have a Clue to What's Going On!
NOTE: The Help site is under construction. Patience and a Lot of Reading is required!
Kind Regards,
sw00000p

Donny b,
Excuse me, I don't understand your question about CDGFix working with CDRWIN!
I haven't touched cdrwin in years! I remember using it to burn a bin file.
CDGFix is not a Burner! After burning a disc with cdrwin you could manipulate the files on that disc with cdgfix.
What am I missing?

Hi swooooop,
I bad...I thought CDGFix was a program that ALSO burned. You just answered all (most of) questions I may have had. No...you didn't miss anything. So basically, the program will "edit" errors from copies that may have "gone bad" due to overuse, or scratches on the NON label side. I dont think discs can be repaired when the label side gets damaged, but, I may be wrong. Not very computer oriented. I'm basically a hack....but I muddle through enough to "get er done". Thanks for all the info,

I need to thank you all for helping me get to the bottom of the rip and burn problem on the Numark player. As it turns out it was a burner issue. I have an external HP dvd writer and 2- internal writer on my computer. As I mentioned, I have always been able to rip and burn individual tracks and entire discs with these drives and they have always played fine on my computers and at a computer based show. In a rack with my laptop I have an external Plextor PX-716 UF and since I hadn’t been using it to burn discs I decided to give it a try. What I discovered is that I could get the Power CDG Burner software to rip and burn at slower speeds on this drive than I could on any of my other drives. Every disc I ripped and burned including some Lightscribes worked perfectly. So that problem is solved and I think I will buy me another Plextor ASAP.
