I thought the G2's were great speakers until I got back to NZ to find one of mine has a bad hum.  Doesn't make me happy since it has only been used a few weeks and that is just at home and it hasn't seen a gig yet.  I saw a thread from micbob having an identicle problem... tried to PM him to find the fix, but he hasn't got back to me.  I kow you said it could be the filter caps., so i'm considering just replacing them to see if that fixes the problem.   Funny thing is that it was humming this morning, but now it's fine!

Make sure the cable to the speaker  has 2 conductors and you are running true balanced. One way to check is put a groundless adapter on the power cord to the speaker If the hum goes away it is the cables not the speaker.

Thanks for the tip Karyoker.  Will try that if the humming returns.  Another thing I want to do is get a decent power conditioner as I'm not using one at the moment.  Will definitely have one before doing any gigs!

I thought that the signal cable would have to have three conductors for a balanced connection..  one for the ground, one for +ve and one for -ve! ???

Thanks for the welcome Vicki...  you can bet if I go to the dentist, he will ensure I have a toothacheby the time I leave! lol

When I say 2 conductor that is typical TRS 2 with ground... The better cables will have double shields.BTW the shack now has mic cables that are double shielded and good quality.
