The best is what fits your budget & your personal needs!  There is not 'best', they all do pretty much the same job, some have more bells & whistles that you may not need, some are more easy straight forward to use.  Some require extra programs to rip.  Try out the demos & determine which is best for you.  MTU Hoster is my choice.

I've looked at most of them over time. I own MTU Hoster and Compuhost.

Compuhost is my choice. For hosting a gig, it has the best rotation control and features. The scrolling singer list -- with promotion trailer -- is a great feature that speeds singers to the stage.

If you are using it for practice only, I think Hoster is better. But for running a gig, Compuhost is best. Both of those are $180 and up.

For a cheap choice for gig hosting, I like JustKaraoke from tricerasoft.com. It seems to have plenty of features and is only $25.

I don't like Sax and Dotties or the other Winamp frontends, myself. Winamp is OK for practice, combined with Pacemaker and the MP3+G plugin. But I find it to be too finicky and prone to technical difficulties for gig use.

well I've been four years running a winamp only and never had a problem!

Pretty good for free.

I'll admit it's not "pro" level, but I've done pro shows for many years with it. I did go with clubdjpro for my video needs eventually, as I didn't have the option for key adjustment with windows media player.

That's my opinion. We had a long thread on it which has disappeared. Here is another one:

What about PCKJ?  Does anyone use that?  Also, is PCKJ the only program that you can buy that comes on CDROM for back up/reinstall purposes?  My lap top is not so reliable right now (untill I can afford to get a new one) and I'm nervous about downloading another program and having to pay again if it goes crashes.

You can always back up any install program on CDR or jump drive for archival purposes. so you can just about save any program's install on disc.  I believe that compuhost probably comes on disk when they send you the dongle.
As for me I use JustKaraoke.  it's professional enough for straight karaoke and if you need fill you can run winamp beside it, which is what I do.

Like Lonmn was hinting to, try em all, and choose the one that fits YOUR needs.  Each hosting package give you a free trial period.

I use Sax & Dotty's Show Present on 2 PCs.  One has been running for almost 4 years, at least twice a week, with no problems.   I call that STABLE.
