I'm looking for  a good inexpensive multitray player for home use.  Seen lot of recommendations for the old JVC or RSQ 3 trays but can't really find these available.  What about the Acesonic DGX-506?  Does anyone have any experience with these?  Any other recommendations?

Does anyone have any recommendations for me?  I know this is probably more of a pro kj forum with most users having laptop/pc systems, but someone is bound to have some experience with these home player/systems.

Would really appreciate some advice on this rather than blindly ordering a new player which "sounds good".  Thanks.

my recommendation is ebay to get an older one of those.

OR the pioneer v555 player.

http://www.acekaraoke.com/hpnrplv550.html
It's expensive, but very comparable what I paid for my jvc triple tray.

Or get their 3 disc carosel model...
http://www.acekaraoke.com/hpnrplv630.html

SC sells a single tray unit that appears to be pretty solid.

I just don't trust the standard cdg players anymore. They're CHEAP and set up to fail!

Just like your home dvd players for $40... they're throwaways!

That's why so many of us went pc based!

Because you CANT get good players (until you pay for 'em!).

Thanks Knightshow.  Appreciate your suggestions.  I've looked at the first two models you listed, but my only concern with these is that they do not appear to play CD+G which is the bulk of my collection.

One other related question, my old unit is a Pioneer Laserdisk/Karaoke player which recently "jammed" with a CD (got stuck in it).  Bcz of its age, I thought it might be worth looking at buying a new player rather than paying to have this one repaired.  However, I'm now thinking it may be worth looking at trying to repair this one.  What do you think?  (It played great up until it jammed)  Can you suggest a good place to take or ship it to get repaired?  I live in the Phoenix area.

Or should I keep looking for a new unit?

heheheheh

My friend, the Pioneer players are the very FIRST ones that were set up to play cd+g! TRUST me. The whole point behind the V555 and the V888 is they were advanced enough to play ALL KNOWN TYPES of (then available) karaoke formats.

Other than proprietary formats such as NEO or SCDG, these players are MORE than fine.

you're correct that ACEKaraoke's pages don't SPECIFICALLY say "cd+g"... but trust me, I've ran that model when I was just a house KJ! The retailer is only going by what the manual states... they DO work or the retailer couldn't sell the player  under the title DVD/CD+G Component Players / DVD Multi-Format Karaoke Systems

Are you sure about the V550 playing CD+G?  AceKaraoke as well as several other vendors offering this player specifically say it will not play CD+G.  I also called Pioneer who also verified this?  Possibly the V555 did but it looks as if the V550 and V630 do not.

you're absolutely right. I thought we WERE talking about the 555. If you go back and see my linked post, that's the one I THOUGHT it was, because I mentioned the 555.

My sincere apologies.
