[glow=blue]What type of system karaoke users are using? Amps , Mixer, Mics, ETC?[/glow]

Depends on the room, most rooms I would use similar to my main system, but some I may downsize a tad or upsize a tad!  Pretty broad question.  This is what I use in my club (and most clubs actually)

I have things laid out a bit differently than you guys but its all on my website. I thought I was overboard with the stuff I have but geesh lonman, youve got more stuff than most bands..my back hurts just thinking about moving it all. Doing 4 shows a week in 4 different bars portability is really important.  Two of us can be up and running in 15 min if we have to, from the time we walk through the door for the first time. It takes a few more after that for me to get a couple of non essential things working while my co host gets things going.

I do have a couple Sure & Samson Mics, but other than that I use all Behringer products.

Rig 1, most common for smaller rooms:

Rig 5, very portable, keep in trunk of car on trips, lend to organizations for PA:

     Mixer: Behringer PMH518M
     Speaker: Kustom KPC10

With all of these, I use my Dell Inspiron laptop with Compuhost as the music engine, with a
Plextor USB CD-ROM drive for playing CDGs.

Portability was never an issue for me I want the best sound I can afford > Period!  Much of this stuff IS from my old band PA (and when I ran sound regularaly) & the singers really appreciate the fact that it is there.

never said it was a bad thing, just that I wouldn't want to set it up and tear it down 3x a week. If I had all my shows in the same venue and never tore down I would be happy to use that setup. when I started out I was using a rack mount mixer, external exf ,eq and compressor/gate. I had everything but the power amps in one rack and it took too long to set up , and was waaay above my co hosts understanding. he still does not understand what many of the knobs on the powered mackies do. he is great at the hosting part , but not so much at the mixing thing. he has gotten better at eqing a vocal, and setting volume, but he will never be a sound guy.

My portable equipment consists of a Mackie 1604 mixer, dbx Driverack, Crown XS700 for my full range & XS1200 for my subs.  Speakers are JBL SR 4722 for the full range & SR 4718 subs.  Monitor is a JBL EONP15 powered speaker.  Then the computer for the player.

Over the years I've had a few systems in  rolling racks consisting of
Mixer, Amp, Power strip, maximizer, effects unit,  triple tray player etc etc.

Now I play 1 gig per week and leave my Behringer powered mixer and Peavey speakers set up --- I arrive 20 mins before show - plug in my laptop , my dual wireless mics and connect 2 wired mics and I'm all set.

For me  ( in this venue)  sound is the same as when I had the rolliing rack.......

I still use a bigger set up for any private parties and gigs I may book.

I have 1 show that my co host runs every week. that PA stays set up all the time , has a single 18 sub crossed over, single 12s with horns, a mackie 406m for the mains and half of an antique peavey cs800 runing the sub. initaly I was using the other side for a monitor, but in that room a monitor caused too many issues for that host,( it even caused me some troubles). there is a speaker on the stage about 10 feet from the singer at a 45* angle across the stage so the singer hears themself pretty well. I normaly like a monitor, but in a couple of my venues I have the main behind and to one side of the singer so that they can get in front of it and hear themself really well. I honestly think that that system with the sub sounds as good or better than my main system, but it is a pain to set up so If i were to go back to portable with that stuff I would leave the sub and Peavey amp at home. in small venues I have gotten the 12s to sound ok, but not as full as my SX500s.

For my house gig in a mostly under 35 bar on Thurs and Sat, I cut my system in half a few months ago because we were all going deaf in there. It's basically a system that a touring band I was in had built for us. Custom cabs constructed out of 13 ply birch and loaded with heavy duty B&C speakers. I've cut the subs down to just two 18s, and tops to just two 15" two ways. It's still all tri-amplified with 5000 watts.

Signal processing is handled by a Driverack with both live and fixed feedback circuits always on.... a necessity with this crew. I never know what they're going to do....

Mixer used to be a Yamaha 12/4 but recently switched to a Behringer 1832 because it has illuminated mutes... once again a necessity considering my age group. Both these mixers have crude but effective onboard graphic EQs which I need because of the variability of different karaoke cuts.

I'm spoiling them with Shure Beta 58s and Audix OM5s. But I need hypercardoids because of the high SPLs. No wireless... with this rather impulsive bunch I want them tethered to the stage.

I still have half a system left over for my Friday gigs, which are mostly live music. So the Karaoke system is fixed in the room.
