hi all,
I need help!
I went to shop and ask them i need a mixer and microphone. I told them i need
this for KARAOKE only. My amp don't have mic support, that why mixer is the sloution.
This shop recommend mic : Sennheiser E 845
I can said that this mic is very good when plug in to my Dad's karaoke system for test out ( BMB)
This shop recommend me Mackie DFX 6 ( as mixer)
I can said , is worst thing i ever hear. When i sing, is very dry. No echo at all.
I off the music and test my vocal, is worst then BMB using same mic.
I also get my bro's DVD player that come with built in adjust echo and 2 mic support. ( i can said all in 1) very cheap and lousy DVD player , but can better then DFX 6
I think/believe that Mackie is not for Karaoke , am i right? hope i wrong
Although DFX 6 give every clear vocal, i think is more for instructment mixer.
Since i already bought, i don't wish to keep in storeroom because Mackie is branded . Is there anyway can make my MIC with echo? ( example add pre-amp etc etc)
pls help

The DFX is a perfect mixer for karaoke, no it isn't designed for karaoke, it's designed for a budget live mixer (which karaoke is 50%) - but anything that is specifically designed for 'karaoke' is usually overpriced & underfeatured.
You weren't getting any effect on the vocal simply because you didn't have the effects either adjusted properly or turned on at all - the DFX has a built in digital effects that are user adjustable. Read the manual for the DFX. You don't need any other processor to get effects.

yes, DFX 6 give very clear and good music.
but i can confirm that it not for karaoke.
anyway, i already send question to mackie for help.
Their reply is that my amp is not for karaoke feature. That why i got
poor in karaoke version quality.
Bring my DFX 6 to my dad house and test out again. I really give a better sound then my amp.
Direct Mic plug to BMB amp vs Mic plug into DFX 6 with BMB amp.
What i can said, DFX alone cannot help me for karaoke unless i got karaoke type amp. The sound quliaty is almost the same, just that i can adjust abit more with help of DFX 6
I think DFX 6 is good for ppl need alot of input feature ( guitar, bass, keyboard )
i think i get it wrong for Just want ( karaoke singing only) LONMAN is right, is overprice and underfeatured for karaoke.
Lesson to me, if just want karaoke only, just buy amp with karaoke feature. Now i end up having alot AUX input but useless to me. it more for mini concert. ( unless when i karaoke, someone bright in that own guitar , keyboard etc. ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) )

Letdoit , I am guessing your not in an english speaking area of the world. something is getting lost in the translation. the Mackie is BETTER than most made for karaoke mixers. it does have "echo" built in . you must have it set wrong. read your manual. I would use either "delay" ,"spring", or "chorus". you will learn in time what type of effect you like best.
your sales person did half of his job. he sold you a good piece of equipment. He did not make sure that you understood how to use it.

yes , i not good in english. i did tell the sales guy that i need very good mixer for karaoke only. I think there are selling this mixer because not many ppl want to buy sure mixer unless for PRO.
For this DFX 6, even i set to Delay 1 to 5, chrous or spring, it not as good as my dad or my bro set. i think i ready need a karaoke AMP as i already tested the different between using normal amp with DFX 6 vs karaoke amp with built in mic input.
understand my english???? ![drunk :drunk:](./images/smilies/emot-drunk.gif)

Again, it's probably not being set right. The DFX 6 & DFX 12 are VERY common karaoke mixers for many companies.
As far as amps go, again it depends on your speakers you are using.

LETDOIT
As I mentioned I do had a DFX12 in my set up - not a bad mixer - I almost can understand what you are saying regarding the "EFFECTS" and you are correct
They will not be anything like a HEAVY ECHO sound you get from many karaoke machines. If you are looking for MORE effects in your mixer. I have been using the Behringer 122fx http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-Eurorack-UB1222FXPRO-Mixer?sku=631229
My main reason for the switch was rackability but it is a GREAT KARAOKE MIXER.

Yes, DFX 6 is very good mixer but not the quality i heard at karaoke pub. I think the main reason is the speaker and amp now. Since mixer cannot help me fullfill my demand/expectation.
maybe i should go down and see some live roadshow concert. :dancin:
