One option is to get your singers(ie her customers) to complaint about the shorter karaoke hrs. to her. She may see things in a different light when it is the customers that is complaining...... Just an option.

this is a totally workable deal with the bar, they just need to be made aware of the cause and effect of changing schedules without discussing it with the affected parties before they make the move. This has always been a problem with bars.

If you have a good working relationship with them they will make the adjustment. If not then you have some tougher decisions to make with regards to Wednesdays.

Hang in there and Keep us posted

Talked to the owner yesterday, and she had been mulling it over in her mind.  Sounds like she's going to do some rearranging in an attempt to accommodate both karaoke and darts.  The dart leagues are new to her.

Hope it works out for the best.  I frequented a bar on Saturdays where the show starts at 9:30 and runs until 2am.  Then they started showing UFC and karaoke didn't start until 10:45-11pm.  We still went because of the short lineups for Saturdays (9-15 people), but we didn't show up until 10:30pm.

It worked out for that bar because they had a huge UFC following and it's more of an after-work place due to location.  But the owner should know that if your show gets pushed back an hour, the patrons will come in later, and she will lose the revenue from that hour.  That is, if they come back.

Good luck!

Yeah the bar owners don't seem to understand cause and effect.

Glad to hear they are trying to work with you. Keep us posted on how things work out.

Hey CroakDog - surely she's a smart enough woman to recognize what she has in you, and that she doesn't want to see everyone's backs going out the door after you....Let us know how it goes.

I would first try to have a discussion with the owner, and if that doesn,t  work your faithful patrons will let the owner know what they want. most owners aren't going to sacrifice a full bar of karaoke singers for a few dart players. But if that is the case it may be time to move on and take the singers with you. that will definitly get the message across!

It doesn't seem to take much to Pi$$ off a karaoke crowd.  And that's a pretty good reason.  Delaying the show for a dart game.   The show must go on.  Been the professional performers standard since before vaudeville.    The owner is playing with her steady income and stands a good chance of losing it to stupidity.    Take the show and the crowd across the street.  They deserve better.  The bar owner deserves a kick in the A$$.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.   Make up your mind.  Do you want to make good money from karaoke or do you want to cater to the dart crowd.  Do it on a different night.  You can't have everything going on all at once, without total confusion or interuptions of the singers.  Those game crowds make too much noise to not be a distraction to the singers.    Do you want to wait all night to sing and then have a bunch of yum yums making noise during your song?    I wouldn't go back if that was the way it was going to be.  And I wouldn't blame anyone else for staying away.
