I'm doing the same thing right now and it's so boring! I don't know when I'll finish. Hopefully sometime this weekend.

I'm also using Power CD+G Burner. I don't know about your All Star brand, but what really slowed  me down at first  were  CDs with a  cloudy film on it from being repeatedly pulled in and out of a sleeve. The site said if I slow reading speed down on damaged discs  it really helps. They said that on scratchy discs, a faster speed will just keep reading and reading over and over and take forever to retrieve the data, while going slow gets it all in a few passes.

That was my problem. Don't know if that helps your situation.

I'm ripping with MTU Hoster and out of 950-some discs, I have found 2 that wouldn't record...this morning I aborted burning on a disc that had taken almost an hour. On others, that were stubborn, I took the burn speed from max to 4 x and it helped. Might try that.

Clean the discs before you rip.  Buy a Disc Doctor and try to get all the scratches removed that you can.  Remember, the way it goes in is the way it will always come out.  So krappy in, krappy out.

Wake up in the morning ---- insert one disc and rip
back from the bath room ........ another disc is done
coffee and breakfast ..........yet  an other one
Before going off to work....... the last one of the morning.
First thing when coming back from work....... another one

and so on

How many can be done without you being in front of the pc? 10 the min.

I havent ever used anything except audiograbber to rip and it works fine

Chances are they were discs with MediaCloq encoded - this was Soundchoices disc copy preverntion encoding.  Were they by chance SC 8700 series?

I was using cdgrip that came with compuhost. However cdgrip will not even acknowledge that there is a cdg in the drive, also when I click on my dvd drive it doesn't show the contents of the cdg. However kjrip seems to work. Anyone else using cdgrip having the same problem???

I think I've got some of those... 8700, 8739, 8746. I just finished the SC discs and they ripped fine with Power CD+G. At the same speed as the others. I was worried about this one... these have some very popular songs on them for my room that you can't get anywhere else... Fire Water Burn, Short D##k Man, Push It....  Maybe these discs  are in between the bad ones.

This as actually going pretty fast. Power CD+G is ripping most discs between 4-5 minutes if there is minimal damage. There is just so many to do...

We've tried three different drives. The Optiarc is going the fastest without errors. It's set to rip at max. I keep checking for errors at that this speed and I have only found one little one out of probably a hundred I've brought up.  

Something else that's helping I think is the two gigs of RAM so Windows temp can put the image file there instead of the hard drive.

And I'm just babbling on (on another PC)  for something to do...

FreeDB (?) isn't coming up with a lot of these disc's track info. Is there something else I can use?

Actually they were just old discs - really old.  Probably from 1990 or so. Couldn't even get to the point where I could type in the info. I have a few SC that I haven't gone back to (I was having problems with software and hardware when I tried the first time).  On my last few "custom entries" right now - woohoo.... but will check those S/C, and yes, of course, they have popular songs on them (one is entirely George Strait)...

Finger prints or scratches could keep it from reading the disc.

A question... when the disc data isn't available, I've figured out how to get the disc number in the filename mask, but I'd like to eliminate the word "Track" before the track number, leaving just the number. That way the only manual work  I'd have to do is insert the artist and title to complete the track name.  Is that possible?

See 'File Names' section in the link I posted before. If you set file name mast to {TrackNumber} you will get only a number.

Oh. OK I didn't understand that. I'll try it the next blank one up.

OK. Here we are. A QuikHitz of all Evanescence. No database. I got the track number to work. And I got each track to say "Evanescence". But the only way it would do that clean is without brackets. Right?

Now... if I want the title ID'ed in the file I need to enter it in the mask  correct? Is the only to do that by burning one track at a time?

If it is, forget it...I've got a long way to go and it's faster at the file afterwards.

I've had freedb fail on many discs
no problems with tracktype.org yet. I'm impressed
There's also musicbrainz.org

Those 3 are available on kJams on the Mac for ripping. Which ripping program on Windows can access tracktype.org ? That would be the way to go.

There are several options for final format, but I think I'm going to go with 192 kbps mp3

It is possible to change the database server to tracktype.org in Setting dialog box in Power CD+G Burner.

do you have a compatible cd rom? when I first got audiograbber and wanted to rip my discs I couldnt cos my cd rom was not compatible. Once I updated my cd rom it was fine

No, I think he said it's an All Star Karaoke which is the old Top Tunes if I'm correct??? I remember having issues with Top Tune, they had multisession disk that not all software extractor could handle. I would suggest using Audiograbber and removing the check on that track, it worked with me!  Great brand of cdg's btw and pretty cheap at Wal-Mart USA, not available in Canada
