Just so you are aware, selectatrack IS part of SBI.

I think it would be that SBI is a part of Select a Track as is Zoom and Legends. I mean if SBI were the main company, then how come you have to go through an email and a third party server to be able to download their tracks? So I don't know who is who and which is which and honestly don't care, I just wanted the tracks and didn't think I'd have to be arguing with some stupid (@$%!) company over their inability to produce the product.
But yeah the Bowie and the NIN is the stuff I'm after the most. I mean what a killer list, I could go broke just buying up all that stuff. And to be honest, where I live, I'm not gonna have anyone else sing it, but I want it for my personal collection. I mean I'm going into my third year of the biz and have yet had anyone else sing a Bowie tune, whereas at most of my shows, I get ask at least once a week to do a Bowie tune. So once I get the rest of the material, I'm gonna be in 7th Heaven.
I'm a bit calmed down about the whole thing now, I'm still just a bit ticked that I'm out the initial money paid to SBI for the NIN tunes I originally ordered. Still not real happy about that at all. I mean I'm of the thought that they'll eventually make good on the deal, but DAYUM, the order was placed on Dec. 30th or so and here it is almost the end of Feb.......I mean come on, Grandma was slow but heck she was in a wheel chair

Did you get the non-acoustic guitar NIN? And even though I do support SBI, I do prefer Select a track because of the cd manufacturing, I've gotten taped label from the Indian company from SBI.

Well here it is the 29th, I got my disc from Select a Track today. I ordered it on the 22nd....gotta say I'm pretty impressed. As for the remaining NIN that SBI owes me, nada.......
I do have to admit, SBI does have some killer stuff though, I just wish the core company had their act together. So Select A Track/ProBurn gets all my SBI business instead of me messing with those dumbarses directly. And for the price you can't beat it, I mean most of the create a disc places charge about 4 to 5 bucks, but all you get this generic crapola that's already out there, so why not get some cool stuff you can 't get from the other places.
And yes, I got both version of Closer from them, the industrial version and the acoustic gothic, which is awesome.
Also got Bowie's 'Five Years' and of course, 'Moonage Daydream' which I immediately cranked up as soon as I got the disc. The one part that had me most concerned was the guitar solo at the end and whether they would go balls to the wall with it or lame out and thank goodness they went for the fockin gusto, it rocks.
Also got the Manson version of 'Tainted Love'
Soundgarden 'Black Hole Sun'
SBI's version of Alice in Chains 'Man in the Box' yeah I know the song itself is a bit outdated, but the version is pretty cool.
Gnarles Barkley 'Crazy' don't know why I love this song so much, but can't help it.
BOC's 'Don't Fear the Reaper' full version thank goodness
Rammsteins 'Engel'...hehehe can't wait to do this one, and I'm not gonna fudge, I'm gonna do it in German just like on this disc.
and finally last but certainly not least The Beatles 'I am the Walrus' what the hey, can't have the Beatles without that one in your collection.
So I'm gonna sit down tonight and probably order the rest of the NIN, unless someone tells me they're no good, or they ordered it and hated it and want to give it to me instead, yeah right...but hell I've got no morals nor any shame... ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) so yeah I"ll beg.
Later folks and again, thanks for all the input.
James

Guess it's a location thing, being close to Seattle ALL the Seattle bands are still pretty heavily requested at our shows - Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, Temple Of The Dog are almost nightly rituals by someone.
But yes the SBI version blows that other dog of a version from AmeriSing away 100 X over! It's damn near spot on!

Maninblack, I beg to differ, Man in the Box is a rock classic that will and has stood the test of time. It's a great karaoke song simply because if you can do it even half decent it almost always gets the crowd going, and if you can nail it maybe you shouldn't be doing karaoke but instead fronting a band. Hard song to do, especially the last chorus where he cranks it up another notch. Yes I am an AIC fan. You must have a diverse crowd.
Lonnie, here in South Texas we must think we're from Seattle because those bands are done nightly at our show. My brother and I duet Hunger Strike now and then and it just never gets old. ( not to us anyway! ) Love all of those bands! By the way, Stone Temple Pilots are going to tour this year with all the original members, I have got to catch that.
Okay I have derailed enough I'll be quiet! Rudy. ![Banger :banger:](./images/smilies/banger.gif)

Doing Man in the Box is noproblamo. The last time I did it at Karaoke, I was at this bar and there was this other kid, a killer singer and I ask him to come up and sing the chorus with me, because I had already worked out a higher harmony. He did the regular line in the chorus and I did my thing and the crowd went friggin nuts.
We got a standing ovation for that one....it was almost(but not quite) as good as being in front of a band again.
One tune that ever since I heard Bowie do it live back in 72' has been a rockstar dream of mine to do is 'Moonage Daydream'. Since I've never had the pleasure of ever being in a band that could pull it off, the karaoke will more or less be a life's dream come true for me. What I want to eventually do is get as many of the songs off of the 'Ziggy Stardust' album and do them in a set. At my shows I can get away with this.
Last season I did a whole Pink Floyd set and the folks really liked it. I also want to take all the NIN acoustic tunes and work up a set with that as well. I think it will be fun being able to do the songs in such a way that even the older folks at the shows will enjoy them without all the volume that's normally done with this material. But then again, I'm gonna have a disc of the industrial stuff on hand for those late nights when it's just the friends hanging around and I can get by with it. At the end of each season on the very last night, I've made it a point of doing 'Closer' and now I'll have the full version to work with. It's kinda become a thing of people just showing up at shows to see what I'll do next and this year, I hope to have plenty of surprises on hand.
During this past winter, every body and his brother have started doing Karaoke in my area, so I want to come out of the gate at full throttle this year and I am pretty sure no one's going to have the material that I'll have. It's good to shake things up a little, keep folks guessing and coming back for more. Sometimes you have to dare to be different and challenge yourself to stay on top of your game.

Very much my same attitude towards karaoke, one of my favorite songs to do is Sponges " Plowed " love the guitar part. A buddy and I trade off on the verses and take turns on the backing vocals and it usually goes over well.
"The Hand that feeds" is another great NIN song to do. I just picked up "Modern Love" by Bowie on SC and the sax part is really good, more of a mainstream Bowie song, but I have always loved that song.
I have said before I am an ok singer, but my strength lies in my song selection. Saga's "On the Loose" UFO's "Doctor, Doctor" are a couple of other songs I do that unless you are and old metal head you probably will have never heard of these songs. Rock on! Rudy.

OK you have to make a trip up here, I have both of those & they have never been done once! Love them both!

LIVIN, LOVIN, I'M ON THE RUN, SO FAR AWAY FROM YOU!
Alright but if I come up there you got to do "Man in the Box" I heard it on the Singers Showcase and it was pretty darn good. Of course if we start doing all of this old Rock n Roll we just might run everyone off!
To bad they don't have "Shape of Things" by Gary Moore, caught him the other night on one of the HD channels during a guitar tribute concert, man can that dude play.

Ah no, we are pretty classic rock, 80's & 90's oriented up here.

Great news....
1. ordered a second disc from Select on the 3rd, it arrived today the 10th, so that speaks volumes for them in my book......but.............
2. Just got an email from my friend Tony, who is still in China as of today. He has heard from a gentleman by the name of Keith Page of SBI Karaoke who was made aware of our situation through the message boards here at Karaoke Scene and is definitely going to make good on the purchase. So when Tony gets back to the states, we'll be able to finish up this deal.
Which brings me to this. I highly respect SBI for taking a personal interest in this particular situation, that speaks highly of them and YES, I will most certainly do business with them in the future because they have a killer selection, I mean for the type of stuff they have, handsdown the best around.
Secondly, thank you to anyone and everyone who responded to this thread. This is proof positive that some and I repeat some companies do take our business both as personal and professional seriously. Had it not been brought to light by this board (and cooler heads prevailed... ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) ) the problem would still exist. So hats off to you guys and props to SBI for taking care of this. Once again I am indebted to this forum.
Much respect,
James H. Gilbert

Man you guys are the greatest! I should have read this thread sooner. I had no idea that this karaoke site existed.
Like... I have needed "Man In The Box" since DAY ONE! Every guy in his twenties wants to sing this thing, and to me it's unbelievable that there's all this karaoke stuff for sale that no one ever sings, but not one current version this extremely popular song.
There's a ton of 90s metal here that I can use. So what works most reliably as far as getting it? The Selectatrack site? Are you guys getting downloads more than the physical discs? If I use Selectatrack has anyone had problems with either method? Has any problems with your credit card popped up? (Sorry... I'm cautious about giving that out overseas. But if that's the way we go, we go.)
Sorry for all the questions... but responses are appreciated. thanks again-

Ditto on the download question from Select-a-track! Not so much the credit card issue, but the turnaround on the download - is it immediate or does it take any time? Quality?

Fortunately laws in the UK are different and the publisers can't say "NO" to a karaoke song licensing (so long as the standard fee is paid). That is why companies like SBI can make the odd, less well known hard to find songs.
A few of the other UK companies seem to be going to the niche market on hard to find songs as well...

The downloads are immediate on this site. I think all their songs are ripped at 128 which is a little chintzy, but good enough that it sounds ok.
